  • Can someone remind me if woolies let you buy other GCs (ebay, amazon etc) with wish GCs?

    • +3

No, since around 2-3 years ago

      • bummer, has coles jumped on board and restricted their systems too?

        • +1

some coles can and some cannot

          • @RichardF89: Is it? I never had a single coles gc being denied by the pos machine at a regular checkout in any Coles.

            • @truetypezk: only 1 of my local coles can use gc for gc. It worked for all my local coles before

  • +1

Amounts to a little less than 5% considering you have to spend $157.50 in total to get your $7.50 back. They love pulling that little trick.

    • -1

      No, you don't spend $157.50.

For example you paid $200 and get $200 Wish + 2000 points
then if you go to shop $200, you pay $190 by gift card + 2000 points ($10) and you got $10 for next shop
you spend $200 for $210 worth of credit, 210/200= 1.05

      • +10

No - your last sentence contradicts everything you said.

        You receive $210 worth of credit for $200 ie. $200/210 = 95.2% - roughly a 4.8% discount.

Similarly - when you go to the shops and they offer you 5% discount, you pay $95 on a $100 item ie 95/100 = 95% - a 5% discount.

        • -8

          TanedaR is correct.

Your calculation is wrong here. Based on your calculation you bought a $200 gift card with $210 cash. That doesn't make sense.

There is no $10 fee like Coles Mastercard.

The correct calcuation here is 210/200.

          • +4

@pandadude: If you use the amount spent as the denominator, you are calculating the per cent of extra value received - $10 or 5%. However to calculate the percentage off, we need to use the value received as the denominator, as this received value is the basis for our percentage calculation.

            $210 value received, $200 spent, $10 off. 10/210 = 0.04762 or ~4.8% off.

Another way to think about it: if I said $200 gift cards were 100% off, would you expect to get a $400 gift card for $200, or a free $200 gift card?

            • @ezzaf: using pandadude's calculations and the 5% example i gave - that means all this time i've been getting a 5.3% ($100/$95-1) discount vs 5% as advertised….mindblown

          • +4

@pandadude: Sorry but TanedaR is not correct

You spend $200 on the gift cards. You get $200 worth of gift cards and you get points worth $10.

You are then able to buy $210 worth of goods.

So $210 worth of goods cost you $200, i.e. the discount on buying $210 worth of goods was $10.

So you save $10 on $210 worth of goods. So you got those goods at 4.8% discount.

          • +2

            @pandadude: You are wrong,
            the correct calculation is
            Money Spend / Value received.
            actual discount rate is (1-MS/VR)*100%

            5% off
            $95/$100=0.95

            2000 points
            $200/$210=0.952

            • +4
              • -2

@pandadude: The actual saving is just over 5%

For example if you spend $200 on the gift card you get 2000 reward points, or $10 off your next shop.

You now spend $210 on your next shop and get 210 reward points ($1.05 value).
                200/211.05 = ~5.24% discount

                • @jakka: Why would you count the points you get for spending money on your next shop? Makes zero sense. You get the points regardless of how you spend your money.

                  • @keejoonc: Because that is the total saving for scanning your reward card compared to someone that does not use rewards.

                    • @jakka: LOL you need to be a rewards member to take advatange of the bonus points, which means they already use rewards and would scan it everytime they shop. It's not rocket science. People above posted the correct calculations and you felt the need to be different?

                • @jakka: If you wanna go that far, well…
                  5% off, $190 gives you $200 value plus 190 points, $0.95 value
                  so totals 200.95
                  0.9455
                  5.45% off

where in your theory, $200, gives you 211.05
                  0.9474
                  5.26% off

  • +2

I clicked through the link from the Woolies mobile to login and activate the 4% off. Then clicked on the button in the email. Let's see if it stacks up…

    • following

    • any update?

      • +1

        Need a baseline.
Can anyone who did it as per the email instruction tell us how long it took to get the points ?
Hum, that doesn't look good if you want an update ^^

Your bonus points can take up to 14 business days to be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards card after the end of the promotional period.

        • I think I tried something similar last time (woolies bonus pts on Gift Cards, then RACV 4% off) and did NOT get any bonus points.

Not saying it's the same, but similar…

    • Great if it stacks, will be watching with interest.

    • I hope so, it does however say:

"Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise specified."

    • What is this 4% off? Is it once off only or multiple uses as long as you use Woolies mobile?

      • Multiple. 5% Big W and BWS, 4% off Woolies, 3% Wish.

      • Supposedly it's a limited time but it has been up for months now.

Pretty nice with the 10% off one shop a month + 4% off giftcards (5% at dan murphys), all for a $180 12 month phone plan. Pretty sure it's paid for itself by now.

    • I bought $500 gc last month by using the way you mention and no receive any bonus point until today.

      • Meaning you received your bonus points today?

        • No.Never receive bonus point for that transaction.

      • You usually get the points when you spend it.
This is a different offer. No idea how to track the points for this one.

      • Did you get a similar offer last month?

    • Any update?Did you receive bonus points?

  • +1

Remember to redeem your points ASAP, as some reported their reward dollar been stolen.

    • -1

      Lol how?

      • Not sure, my rewards card never had an issue for almost 9 years until recently.

        • what happened?

          • @fredblogs: Lost $30 rewards, the guy got me only after a gift card shop with 6000 pts bonus. I am not sure he/she knew, but I doubt the guy might be from woolies

    • or just set to "bank for Christmas" then convert to $10 off just prior to using

Hopefully with e-dockets available now, there will be less printed receipts out there, reducing the opportunity for dodgy people to take everyday rewards numbers from discarded receipts

    • I convert it to Qantas to keep my account alive…

  • Getting ozbargain? Having payment issues.

    • If it's targeted, I don't think it'll get ozbargained. System issue maybe.

      • Not really targeted. I got it on 9 out of 12 so far.

  • ordered 2 x $500 egift card 2 hours ago and still haven't received yet.

    • have you received? I also have not received mine after more than 24 hrs. One $500 gift card.

      • Same. I feel better knowing its not just me.

        • Still no gift card here after 3 days.

          • @capslock: FYI. Just noticed this on the front page

We are currently experiencing issues delivering eGift Cards to Hotmail accounts. Please use a different email address if possible

  • -1

Help. Is that 5% disc equivalent if spend more $150? E.g. if i spend $500, do I get roughly $50 worth of rewards poitns?

  • I'm still burnt from it not working a previous time. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654592

    • And we got burnt on the instore 10x points EFTPOS deal, no points received.

  • +3

Just a reminder to NSW Seniors Card holders that they can purchase Woolworths WISH eGift Cards at a 5% discount. I doubt that this deal will stack though.
    https://www.seniorscard.nsw.gov.au/discounts/homepageoffers/…

  • I still get 5% off wish through DVA, have they really locked it down so much for everyone else?

  • Has anyone received their bonus points yet?

    • lol, too soon?

Your points can take up to 14 business days to be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards Card

      • Hmmm, I read this few minutes after my comment lol. Thanks.

        • Starting to sweat now. Bought $1k and still waiting for this…. 😂

          • @nismo: still another 3, 4 days to go

            • @ce5himm: I actually think day 1 is today of the "up to 14 business days" … So the wait starts from today.

It says "after the end of the promotional period." 🤦‍♂️

  • It took twelve hours to receive the gift cards which is a bit frustrating but not the end of the world.

    • I got mine almost instantaneously. But it was when OP was posted

    • The worst I had was more then 48 hours. The order get stuck and someone has to manual fix it.

If its during business hours you can call support and they can fix it.

This is why I prefer physical gift cards over e-gift cards were possible.

If there any problems in store with a physical gift card the servide desk supervisor can fix this on the stop for you. If its an e-gift card they have the same issue as us.

      • happend to me once, egift card not delivered within 2 days, I have to send a support ticket, and they fixed it tomorrow.

  • received 1000 points on $152 spent.

    • or could it be bank for Christmas promo?

      • I believe it is the 3 weeks of points booster.

If it's part of a purchase then its likely this promotion. It should show in the e-receipt.

If it was allocated seperate to a transcation then this would be the Christmas Promotion to swap banking points for Christmas.

        • Yep definitely.
          Week 1 spend $30 get 1k pts
          Week 2 spend $40 get 2k pts
          Week 3 spend $50 get 3k pts
          6k pts total

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: I have this one too. It's about as good as the Woolies offers get for me but the Coles ones are better than 25% off.

  • +1

I'm still waiting for my points 😔

    • Me too! Purchased $500x2 Wish cards on April 5

    • Same man. Will keep you guys posted if / when I get them

    • +1

up to 14 business days after the end of the promotional period.

5 business days have passed, out of 14.

      Hopefully it's very soon🤞

    • Just got my points overnight.

  • Anyone got the points yet ?

    • Yes overnight.

      • Same here, FWI I used the wow mobile 4% off discount. $200 gc paid $192. got 1920 points

      • Thanks for the heads up, same here.

  • Also got the points this week 🙃

    • when did buy the giftcards? i bought mine on 30/3 and haven't received any points yet.

      • +1

        Same, 30/03

Bonus pts are dated 20/04, but I only saw them today

  • FYI I got the points on 20/4 but had them reversed on 22/4. Was told it was because I used the 4% off mobile discount offer when purchasing. Got given 2000 "goodwill" points though for my troubles. I'll accept them.

    • +2

that's why better use the points immediately.

  • Same thing happened to me just now. Used the login 'hack' to get the 4% off as well as 10x points

I say hack but I was logged in for the mobile 4% discount. Clicked on the shop now button and it takes you to the previously logged in discounted screen…not like I'm changing url's

    Points awarded 22 April
    Points removed 26 April

2000 goodwill points awarded which was less than points removed.

Spend your points when they arrive if using the hack to double dip.

  • I got the points on 21 April. And on 23 April, someone used up all my points in store. What are the chances…
