Typhoon Gaming Chair ($79 Exp), Typhoon Pro Gaming Chair ($119), Typhoon Prime Gaming Chair ($149) in-Store Only @ Officeworks

1091

Officeworks are clearing stock on old gaming chairs to make room for new model of chairs. It seems like they have pulled most of the stock off their website but you can still find them in store. At this price point it may be worth considering over other chairs but comfort on them seem to vary so it may be wise to head in-store and see if you can try them out. Seems like you can’t click and collect them so you have to go into store to purchase them.
They aren’t the best of quality of chairs, reviews seem to suggest that the padding flattens quite quickly, the mesh frays easily (on the Typhoon Pro), the padding deteriorates with moderate use but YMMV.

You may have to call your nearest Officeworks to double check if they have stock before going in. The Officeworks stock checking website seems to be accurate as of 28/03 at 8:30PM as this was Northmead’s stock of the Typhoon Gaming, Typhoon Pro and Typhoon Prime.

If you are interested, the chairs replacing these are the Typhoon Raid, Typhoon Pro 2 and Typhoon Prime gaming chairs. The Typhoon Raid seems to be cloth instead of leather whereas the Typhoon Pro 2 and Prime seem to be just refreshes on the models.

First post so please let me know what I missed!

    • Which one did you buy?

    • Which one did you get and is it comfortable?

      • i bought the non Mesh one , is comfortable but be mindful of the weight limits and if you are over 6/3 no good

    • And made in Korea apparently, which is prefer to the usual alternative.

  • +1

Honestly for a true bargain just keep an eye out for offices clearing good quality office chairs on gumtree or facebook market place. Will likely get a good chair that will last a long time for very little or even free, and as a bonus its good for the environment. Just my 2c (: flies away

  • Ugh. Damn. Just bought this 2 weeks ago. Great chair fwiw

  • I bought the Prime for $149 at Keysborough VIC. Still quite a few left. Well worth a try. It seemed a bit flimsy in the store but can't complain for the price.

  • The cheapest one is very poor quality, went with the $119 as it's well worth the extra $.

  • Plenty in Alexandria. Fairly cheap build. I think pro chair is better than prime but that’s personal preference

  • Saw a few of the Typhoon Prime gaming chairs at Doncaster, but none of the 2 cheaper models. The Prime chair looked good but when I sat on it, it was quite underwhelming. It's okay for $149 but like others have said, you need to sit on the chair yourself to make a call on it. I was lucky enough to score the last Buro Roma 3 Lever High Back Ergonomic Chair for $99 ($399 RRP) whilst I was there, so the trip was worthwhile. Thanks OP.

  • Just paid $130 cash on the weekend for one of these… damn

  • +1

Thanks OP, just bought the Prime for $75. Seems the store did another reduction to get rid of them quickly. There were no assembled ones in the store so not sure how good it is but at that price I don't think I can complain.

    • Which store?

      • +1

Richmond, there was only one more left this morning.

        • +1

Sorry htc, I just picked this one up.

          • @Khriso: Thanks for letting me know. It is ok. That definitely saved me a trip. Enjoy! Let me know if it is very good, I was thinking about getting the cheapest one but after reading member's comment about pro or prime are good, I think I will get the prime or the pro. I look forward to your review. Edit: did you pick it up from Richmond Victoria?

            • +1

@htc: Sorry mate, just got back home from the drive. Yes indeed, Richmond Officeworks, Victoria - Last one left. There are a few base and Pros left I believe.

$150 caught my attention and thanks to navidm58 I thought I'd pull the trigger.

              Building it now.

  • The typhoon pro is probably the best chair I've had. Spent hundreds on chairs before and nothing has compared to it in my opinion. The mesh back is nice and breathable and the base is thick and hasn't worn down at all like some other foam base chairs.

Unfortunately the closest store with stock is 4 hours away from me otherwise I would hundred percent buy 1 or 2 more as backup and a spare chair for my other desk.

Have definitely had some sessions well over the 'recommended' 3-5 hours and it was always comfy. 10/10 would recommend.

the pro gaming chair is like 89 in store in glebe

If you break these chairs easily there is always Jenny Craig

  • Thanks OP

I went to Warners Bay NSW Officeworks to check the chairs out today.

Of the 3 I prefer the Prime, but I dont like how the arm rests can move left/right and you can't stop that.

In the end I decided against buying any of the chairs.

For those in the Newcastle region, Warners Bay had plenty of stock of all 3 chairs.

  • Got one of the primes. Taren point in NSW has loads. Thanks OP

  • don't get this fake leather… spend some more and get a real leather chair, you will 100% be much more satisfied

  • Can someone tell me why so much hate on the secret labs? A few on Facebook marketplace.

I'm in the market for a good, ergo, pre loved chair with 6hours + like the HM or Ergos, etc. Any leads in Sydney/Newcastle would be great.

  • Got the Typhoon Prime from Northmead. Quite a few of the other two still left, but only about 2 Primes.

They are still advertised at a higher price so probably scaring off potential buyers. OPs price after scanning

    • Couldn't see any of the clearance Typhoon's in Northmead yesterday (Sat 23 April)

      Stock is getting scarce.

  • Can anyone recommend a ergo chair that I can sit tilted back all the time, it's how i sit!
