Recommend Me 5.1ch Sound System for LG C1 (Budget $500 - $1,500)

So I just bought LG C1 65 TV. The picture quality is excellent but I want a better sound system to utilise the premium price I paid for this TV. I've checked Samsung WH-Q950A but the soundbar doesn't sit well in front of the TV that is blocking bottom view of the TV.

I have little knowledge about audio system but I think 5.1 channel would be best to enjoy surrounding sound experience.
Any recommendation with 5.1ch sound system for this TV?
My budget is $500 - $1,500.

If you're not getting the Q950A, which by all accounts is the best one to get, your next best options are the Sonos Arc or the JBL 9.1.

    • Genuine question. Do you rate the Q950A as better than the Sonos? I was pretty impressed with the Sonos

      • I don't know of anyone with the spare money to buy both and compare. I've just heard these are the best 3 you can get at the moment.

    • 100% agree with theory's comment. How about Sony HTRT3- that's got a slim profile?

I am personally waiting for Samsung Q990B to hit Oz.

      • It has hit Oz and is on sale atm. Check in deals. Bought one and looking to set it up on the weekend.

    • There is 1 better but costs a fortune
      Sony ht a7000, 2x rs3s and sw5 sub
Also there's the sennheiser ambeo which is bulky big and awesome

Same issue with the soundbar… the C1 sits so low I doubt any soundbar isn't going to block the bottom of the screen. Do you have somewhere for the middle speaker that isn't in front of the tv? They are usually higher than a soundbar anyway. Logical solution is to wall mount. Or if you cant do that, get something like this to raise it a bit higher: https://www.amazon.com.au/Artiss-Adjustable-Television-Anti-…

    • Can’t wall mount. I just don’t like the idea to hang a heavy object on brick veneer wall.

      • What aspect in particular? Spread it across enough studs, and you can hang a huge amount.

  • Buy some shelves from IKEA to prop up the TV, that's what I'm going to do :)

  • P.S. In case this helps, I have a 65" G1 and have it mounted on this floor stand, works very well - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07DJ32DYK?ref_=pe_2361882_2972…

    • I have this floor stand (trolley) with wheels for the old TV. The quality is great for the price. But it’s not an option for C1.

  • I bought this to lift the TV up to fit a bigger centre speaker

Worked a treat :) Fits this centre speaker under it (approx 15cm high)

  • Yamaha YHT-1840B. Currently $649 at The Good Guys, $549 at Bing Lee, $475 on backorder from VideoPro. Pays to shop around.

Has been cheaper, but not for some time now.

    • Interesting. Is this good?

Better than a sound bar in my opinion. I have yet to hear a soundbar that is better than separates when running the same format. ie; 2.1, 5.1 or 5.1.2 etc.

It also allows you to upgrade your speakers/sub at a later time if you ever wish too and sell off the old ones.

Don't get me wrong, soundbars are fine and definitely suit a lot of peoples needs or circumstances.

  • Second hand Logitech Z-5500

    • Greatest Of All Time Audio deal!!
Bought brand new for $290… 11 years ago. Screen died at some point. But I have another I paid $150 (by memory) 2nd hand 5 years ago. People complain they sound "muddy".. but I think it's like anything - Just needs a proper tune.

  • Bunnings ecycle bin is always full of 5.1 systems as everyone turfs them for soundbars.

I have a 10 year old amp, denon and yamaha speakers. Sounds amazing..cost..$0

    • How does one partake of this Bunnings e-cycle bin goodness ?
      Are you an employee ?

      • Nah mate. Just drift past Bunnings from time to time. Some sites guard the bin with an iron fist (probably because some slobs pull stuff out and leave it everywhere). Some are accessible.

        • All good. Better in your hands than in their bin.
I reckon they just chuck it in the tip at the end of the week.
Having you reuse it is proper recycling.

          • @Zoop: I tried to tell the Bunnings girl that (as I came back for the Yamaha sub). She wouldn't have a bar of it, so I left it. All good. Got the Denon gear the next week. I really hope they repair and recirculate a lot of it. A Dyson V7 I grabbed only had hair jamming the powerhead, a Delonghi coffee machine that only needed an O ring lubed etc etc. But again, I understand that some people would make a mess. So I'll only grab it if sitting on top.
