  • I can't see any saliva tests? Do you have any? My son prefers them over the nasal test.

  • Anyone reckon Josh Frypanburn will announce free RATs for all Australians at 7:30 tonight?

    • +6

Right after the free EV announcement…

      • I actually wouldn't put it past him.. now that his mates can't make the fat profit on the RATs, he might "subsidise" them. Rats cost $5 but Government pay another $5 on top as a "cost of living" subsidy to "help" the "public".

    • +2

only for those in marginal seats
and are Labor votes who are willing to change to liberal

      • Damn, point cook is gonna get inundated with rats and it won't be because of the impending flood

  • Saliva all the way

  • +2

Just get them free at PCR testing places. No point paying for one ever again.

I returned from overseas in early March, went to 3 different testing centers for free RAT kit, got rejected by all of them. 😞

I thought they were free to anyone who showed up. I didn't even have a chance to say I was a returned traveller.

    • My kids bring them home from school, we have more than we’ll ever need

    • While getting a PCR test twice this week I saw many people trying this and being turned away empty handed.

  • +1

Went to get PCR test this morning and they don't hand out RATs

Note the saliva ones listed above are "High Sensitivity", not "Very High Sensitivity"

    • Correct. The Onsite Nasal is one of the highest sensitivity "Very High". JusChek Nasal and Oral are both rated "High"

      • Are any "Very High" tests going to be made available at a discount price?
Recently picked up a few Orawell COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Saliva Tests for the children, but they were $11 plus GST each.

  • Although different brand, it's cheaper to get here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/690332 For the same number of tests, its $100 and free express shipping.

I'm sure your price will further drop as you can't clear stock. Nobody really cares about COVID anymore

    • +1

Won't anyone think of the poor "entrepreneurs" and their hoarded "investments"

    • +1

Millions of parents of young kids & carers of elderly do care.

      • -4

No they don't, the media want you to believe that but Covid doesn't do squat to young kids and the elderly are generally ok also unless already ready to check out.

        • -1

In the 0-9 age group we’ve had 6 deaths in Australia.

Tell their parents that Covid dies “squat” to young children.

          • @try2bhelpful: "Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said the child who died had “serious” underlying conditions."
            https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/child-u…

Now lets look at the Vic death….oh wait…. "“The child aged under 10 years, who died with COVID-19, also had other serious comorbidities,” the department said in the statement."
            https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/child-under-10-d…

I think you are missing the obvious, that fit healthy children have nothing to fear from Covid 19

            • @Homerlovesbeer: Except there were two in NSW and, at least one, had no underlying conditions at all. You said “it doesn’t do squat” well, obviously, it does.

We, also, don’t know what the long term Covid effects might be.

              • -1

@try2bhelpful: I refuse to be manipulated by fear any longer, the whole Covid thing is so blown out of proportion it's redicious.

By all means, lock yourself up but let the rest of us get on with life.

  • Do you have any of the saliva "lollipop" tests - seems our 4 year old struggles with the regular saliva one and hates the nasal one.

    • Hello, Only standard Oral (Spit into collector) and Nasal Sorry.

  • -1

So what's the actual cost of a test kit anyway? Wasn't it only like 1-2 months ago when everyone was selling for like $12-20 per kit, and government being OK with that price range…

    • This offer is as low as $5.50ea delivered.
