Corrective Glasses for Myopia (0 to -6 Diopter) US$2.18 / A$3.10 Shipped @ iboode Official Store Aliexpress

60

Cheap glasses from Aliexpress.

One of about five pairs I have purchased. Cheap contacts around as well eg Kilala for $2.92 shipped.

Used them everyday as my "video" streaming glasses to have a larger magnified area. They do look a little oversized IRL. Would recommend the clear or coloured ones as this will offset that somewhat. IPD and the width is important here as the Aliexpress glasses tend to be narrow. Recommend keeping in a frame case and "babying" them as materials are a little weaker sometimes. And Aliexpress standard shipping as it can be very fast. You can look around for your vision condition or the style that suits. Please see an optician/professional beforehand and ongoing for contacts.

$28 Photochromic Aviators
$8.35 Iboode Blue light blocking glasses
$12 Yooske Finished myopia

  • I expect all of my eyewear to be under a fiver.

    • This is the aliexpress price…. Taobao could be even cheaper.

      • Do Taobao delivers to Australia?

        • don't know too much about it as I just browsed twice using Google translate. Some of the Aliexpress stuff is just drop shipped Tao Bao, so would think you can get it cheaper.

true blue blocking glasses need to be yellow lenses

    • not true

  • Interesting.

  • timely deal as my monocle cracked while reading the title(!)

  • "yearly" soft lenses from easysmalls for around $22 shipped.

Sorry, do you mean you're going to use the same lens in your eye for the next TWELVE MONTHS?

    • Advertised as yearly. And you have to disinfect everyday with a "scrub" every week. Looking at coloured yearly's sold here so they must be a thing.

      • +1

Well I've worn monthly lenses before and by the end of the month the lens is quite worn/stretched even if you maintain it perfectly with solution.

It's also (relatively) considerably thicker than daily lenses and you can feel it in your eye more.

Now taking the same lens in and out 750 times or more is just asking for issues.. scrubbing them every week is only going to wear down the lens quicker

Coloured lenses aren't prescription, hence the wearer will still be able to see!

        • Yep had a look and the expectancy is more eight months. Or 230 uses. I might use mine 40 times a year. The anniversary deal is in and I found a pair for $2.92 delivered Kailala on AliExpress. So you could buy a few at that price. I also trust the companies on AliExpress as they seem to have alot of orders and satisfied customers. They also have coloured prescription available.

          • @Cave Fire:

I might use mine 40 times a year.

Using them that little would probably make more sense to use daily disposables imho especially seeing as they'll just be sitting in their solution for extended periods of time (which dries up and hence lens will too).

Might be just me but my eyesight is one of few things I'd never cheap out on.

            • @decc0: yeah… it turns out you can revive them with solution if they dry out (and are not damaged), seen this and threw one away.

              • @Cave Fire: You can soak them in solution to get them inside your eyes again but they're not going to be as comfortable as before (you'll have tiny little micro creases)

                • +2

@decc0: One of the problems with wearing contact lenses beyond their recommended lifetime is a build up of protein and other deposits from your tears which can make the lenses more irritable for your eyes.
Likewise, the lenses lose their oxygen transmissibility (or permeability) over time, which makes them less "nice" for your eyes. Different classes of contact lenses have different recommended lifetimes because of different materials, and different surface treatments. I have seen that some lenses from overseas/no-name/yum-cha suppliers are completely mislabeled.
Buyer beware. It's only your vision !

  • only for people with the same prescription for both eyes :(
