Portable Air Conditioner - Water Tank Question (Vostok)

Hi OzBargainers,

We have a Vostok (VOPORAIR18HA) portable air conditioner.

From time to time we get a beeping sound that tells us to empty out the water tank. (which is in the worst position!! - but i'll leave that for another day)

I appreciate that the unit takes humidity out of the air but we also have an external exhaust pipe, where I thought the water gets evaporated and blown out (similar to a vented clothes drier).

Kogan support isn't very helpful so was wondering if anyone else has this issue or whether we have got it set up incorrectly that we have to keep emptying this tank on a weekly basis.

Hopefully someone can point in in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

ps. we only use it for either heating or cooling (not dehumidifying - although this function exists)

but we also have an external exhaust pipe, where I thought the water gets evaporated and blown out (similar to a vented clothes drier).

That exhaust is for the unit to push out the heat exchanged air outside, the bulk of the condensation will go to the tank.

Sounds like your air con doesn't have the feature that uses the water while in operation, My portable air con when in NOT using the dehumidifier mode never had to be emptied.

When cooling I have had to empty the water on my portable air con once in 4 years when I used it for a few days in a row (12 hrs per day). Never used the dehumidifying feature.

  • Thanks for your thoughts everyone
