    • Oh cool, I'll mention it in the description, thank you!

      • No worries.

For those who understand the difference between old VA and new VA, this is very much old VA. And it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Plenty of TN and IPS options in this budget range that actually function remotely well for 144Hz usage. Fast VA should get here, eventually.

And for those that don't understand the difference between old VA and new VA?

    • -1

Even "old VA" blows away TN. I wouldn't say it's that bad. The black smearing is visible in dark scenes but it's just as fast as IPS otherwise and it has superior contrast to IPS and much better viewing angles to TN. Only reason I wouldn't get one is if you use dark mode and need to read scrolling text all the time (code, word processors, etc).

      • VA has the worst horizontal viewing angles of all the technologies, hence the curves.

The response times are legitimately bad here, and were almost exclusively bad until the end of 2020.

There is a lot of evidence to support this, including in what I've already linked. Please stop.

    • +1

I'd still take the vastly better contrast of VA despite the motion issues.

      • Then you'd be wasting your money when VA technology has already leapt forward in other product lines.

I mean.. yes? It's a budget monitor, those who understand the difference should also understand the difference in pricing.

  • what would the best value for money 27” monitor to be used primarily for video editing?

    • Get one of the Dell ones on sale atm. I am using the 75HZ 2k one and it's really good- good colours, the high res is nice and it has decent, non-tinny integrated speakers.

      • Thanks! I had a look at the sale but it tells me estimated delivery time is in May!!!

        • For what it's worth the two monitors I've bought from Dell both had a similarly long estimate but they arrived within the week. I've seen others on here with the same experience.

          • @aileron: That said I ordered a Dell Backpack for my step daughter and it took 3-4 months. Their time estimates are the worst I've ever seen

          • @aileron: Last time I ordered a monitor it took 3 months, past their original time estimates.

            Depends on luck

    • I got the 27" Dell S2722QC on sale for $369 with 4k display

I use this for gaming and its fine.

I prefer VA panels the colours look better and not washed out. Good with low glare from sunlight too.

    Good budget monitor imo.

I have this too. I would say it's decent at this price. Doesn't look too gamey which I like. The only thing thing I don't like is input switching. I have a desktop and a laptop dock connected to it. Switching inputs on this monitor is painful and the monitor can become unresponsive under certain conditions.

  • Hi, is it better to have 2 27" monitors or one Ultra wide monitor. For work and gaming.
I already have a Dell 2721DGF and was in the market for buying another.

    • If your gpu is capable, ultrawide is a better and more immersive experience. But of course they cost more

  • +1

Why does a 24" 1080p monitor require a curve? there are much better options listed in the comments.

    • Agreed, I reckon anything below 32" shouldn't be curved.

    • Because it's VA and the viewing angle is bad when off-axis.

  • I'm just planning on using this as a WFH solution, mostly using it for things like spreadsheets. Are all the complaints because of gaming? This seems like a good price point for my more simple needs.

    • It will impact you if you're trying to read quickly while scrolling. There's better monitors for similar prices, particularly for document work.

The curve will somewhat throw you off while trying to cross reference along the same row, for example. Given the drops we're seeing on a host of monitors, there are likely other deals, and others that will appear very soon.

  • I am after something just to wfh, is this suitable for that or is there something more affordable if specs aren't really an issue?
