Are the Front Page Settings Working as Expected?

If my settings are configured to the least minimum votes (Photo 1), in theory the Front Page and New Deals Page should be the identical for deals with positive votes.

However if you compare the screenshots of the Front Page (Photo 2) and New Deals Page (Photo 3), they are vastly different.

Are the settings working as expected or am I doing something wrong?

  • You have to use the old listing page. Click on the 3-dots right above the Epic Games logo in your example, and change the front page to "List (old)" to use the old settings. But seriously if you want to see all the deals, use the New Deals page as your main page instead. The old front page settings might go away.

    • Thanks Scotty. I've never noticed the "…" until just now. I think it might be better user experience to include those options in the settings as well.

From a user experience POV, I want to see what I want to see when I load "ozbargain.com.au". That page will always be the first recommended page when I type "ozb" in the Chrome address bar on both computer and mobile. You can argue that I should use bookmarks on both computer and mobile but it's quicker via the address bar (at least for me personally).

  • I would really love the "Hide EXPIRED" option for the New Deals page. Many 'deals' are gone in just minutes…. who wants to see that??

Also, the sliders for Minimum Votes don't seem to be working, because the values change back to default if I tick the option. Then, if I move the slider, it unticks the option!

    • There is already a 'Hide expired deals' checkbox on the new deals page.

      [ ] Hide expired deals

If you tick default, then it will change the setting to default (-2). If you want to set it to something different then do so via the slider and don't click the default (-2) checkbox.
