Commonwealth Bank Debit Card Not Accepted for YouTube (India or Argentina)

Hi guys

I have seen some tricks to subscribe YouTube premium using India or Argentina. I used the von and followed the process and entered my Commbank debit card Mastercard details but not accepted.

What is the problem and also please give me some ideas how to buy this premium.

Thanks

Hi, It is possible the Debit Card is flagged as from Australia by the IIN.

    • Yes i dont know why Indian website dont allow non indian cards, i think visa/mastercards of Indian origin have some sort of extra security attached to them that could be used to identify if they are indian or not?

Similar to how non 3D technology is rejected by woolworths gift cards to prevent access of prepaid Cards to their GC portals

  • I would try a different address and if that doesn't work use another card.

  • I think I had my westpac debit card setup in YouTube before actually doing the VPN stuff.

I also went to my Google account and changed my address to an Indian address (I'm on India, not Argentina). Then used VPN to sign up to YTP. After it was accepted I changed my google address back to normal.

    • I dont think , it is due to google. I tried for Amazon prime and same thing happened.

  • What Free VPN is everyone using for this?
Or are they using a paid Vpn service?

Been trying to do this for a couple months 🤦🏽

Tunnel bear give 500mb free per month and is available on multiple platforms.
Works for me when registering youtube

  • I have tried both India and argentina. Is it due to commbank or those websites?
    Thanks

    • Likely that Youtube introduced some sort of feature like Netflix requiring payment to be done using same currency origin card ?

So best bet using prepaid Gift cards ?

    • My Amex didn’t work, Westpac MC did work though.

Have you checked the international online payments option under settings when you log in to NetBank via the website or app? International online payments will be declined if this option is turned off.

  • Try with a Transfer Wise card, that's what I use.

    • May be true. But i have to pay $10 for debit card just to buy premium.

      • mate, you're skimping on $10 deposit for convenience and ongoing cost, a CBA card will almost cost you 2-3% extra in currency conversion, unless you're on one of the rare one. If you succeed in doing this over the years the fees will add up handsomely on CBA favour. If worry about fee, get 86400 or citibank card, they don't slug your currency conversion fee.

        • Thanks buddy, i mean wise is charging me $10 for ordering the debit card.

@Dealzlove: Citibank, macquarie and a few other proper banking institution give out free card with their transaction account, they don't charge currency conversion, why limit yourself to wise?

  • This is happening to me too now.

like 4 years no issues now my Youtube Indian premium is declining for no reason…..

  • Just happened to me as well, credit card expiring and I am unable to add a new payment method…
Chat support told me that they can only see that the payment has been declined and that I need to contact my bank (they also asked if I am using a VPN haha)

  • Anyone found a fix for this? I've tried using some multi currency wallet cards but it didn't work. Anyone can confirm if Wise card works?

    • ME card is working for me

      • is that with the recurring payment, or prepaying for the family plan?

        • Recurring payment every month

  • Argentina, using the Up card.

The Indian one cracked the shits after a couple of years. I think they switched payment providers
