  • this is a decent price, good to see the price is slowly but surely coming down.. :)

Feels like if it's not almost RRP it's not a deal these days
I guess technically this is an AIB so it wouldn't be at $1049, but pretty sure these will come down more

    • think you're probably correct in that

    • If someone needed a high end card right now it's a good card; but as you have said, might be best to hold off if possible.

      • if you've waited this long you may as well wait till next gen and just order launch night.

        • Not wrong, but when i think back i said the same to people that just bought 2000 series cards right before the 3000 unveiling. Little did we know they made the right choice.

          • @Panama: Maybe but depends what price they paid and what card you are referring to

  • This or the RTX3080?

People have been asking this for 2 years. Why not watch one of the millions of youtube videos or read one of the many reviews

      • Because I was hoping someone on here with one of those GPU's could share their opinion on which is better. Online reviews can sometimes be biased and it doesn't hurt to ask around

        • +1

Because nobody's opinion here is biased… jk

Largely depends on what you want to do with it, and what price you get it for in my opinion.

          • @buffalo bill: For 4k gaming mostly, I heard the RTX3080 would be better because of its features like Raytracing and DLSS. I don't know much about the 6800XT, so I don't know which would be better

    • +3

If the title you are gaming on has ray tracing or DLSS, go with NVIDIA. If not and you are gaming under 2K resolution, AMD is better.

For 4K, NVIDIA did win a bit but not too much. I reckon just pick the cheaper one.

      • Thanks! I think the RTX3080 would be better, especially for newer titles that support 4K and NVIDIAs GPU features.

Just check the teardown of the card you preferred. GDDR6X is running hot so you may need to replace the thermal pads on VRAM.

as of right now 3080 is probably the best bet. esp consider the price you can pick it up for, however with fidelity 2.0 coming out it looks promising enough that the call might swing back to AMD's favor, but we really just don't know, and who's to say the next version of dlss doesn't then trump that?

The price is all that seems to matter between these to cards, id want to be paying less than a 3080 to even consider the 6800xt, and I'm all for AMD, DLSS's offering is just looking to good now, its far beyond what it was 2 years ago when these reviews made sense.

          • @viralhybrid1987: I was thinking of waiting it out until we get more info on the RTX 40 series, in hope that they will be reasonable prices or the 30 series would be much cheaper.

            • +1

@FDA2021: with an expected 50% uplift in performance on next-gen, yeah I'm waiting myself.. even sold my 5700xt and went back to a gtx1070, and its GETTING HARD now with these price drops!

    • If you don't care about Ray tracing or dlss, the 6800xt is a little ahead overall at 1440p according to hardware u boxed in a recent testing.
Think you can get a 3080 for cheaper than this so that would be the better option

  • Why get this when there was a 6900xt for basically the same price last week. Makes me want to wait on another similar deal rather than jump onto this
