Alpha ESS Solar Battery

Hi there,

I am looking around for solar battery options for my home. I have 6.6 kwh panels.

I want your opinion on alpha batteries vs Tesla. Grateful for any suggestions.

TIA.

For what reason are you thinking of this? At this point in time it might not be a good financial investment. However, if you are doing it to be energy independent or for environmental reasons go for it. Pick the one that has the better capacity and warranty or fits the space you have or integrated better with your system or ….

As for the difference between the two, you’ve provided no other information to help us. Tesla has brand image. The other… no idea.

    • I second this.
Did the numbers on a unit when i did my install and even if (Big IF) the battery retains 100% of its capacity then it'll take roughly 10-13 years to pay off.
At the moment it's a nice to have to go off grid or expect to live in your house for 10 years or have money to burn.

Give it a few years and like solar panels the payback will come into the 4-5 year mark.

I got a couple of quotes last year. They kept advertising some special solar battery upgrade so I thought why not.

Too expensive for the benefits offered. At this point it’s only worth it if you just want to be off grid or like you say have spare cash and don’t want to buy coal fired sparks.

  • Thank you all for the your thoughts. I am getting a insurance payout for current solar. So, total install might cost me $5000 out of pocket including the 10 kw battery.
