  • well, i have never had any kind of interest in one of these , as my desktop is i7 blah blah top of the line.. but after becoming addicted to ozbargain and reading the fellows review above i will soon be a proud owner of this thing… about my 6th ozbargain referred purchase in 2weeks hmmm… either the best website ever or maybe the worst LOL :)

  • +1

    Well, it's official, price war…it's down to USD$199.99 now…making it USD$206.63 shipped…outstanding! :)

    • +1

i feel like bang my head on the wall now… lol..

  • And sold :)

Was waiting for the $199.99 us mark :)

Thanks for the heads up op

  • ordered 2, fast shipping
Shipping Estimate Monday May 7, 2012
Delivery Estimate: Friday May 11, 2012
    Shipping Soon

    • chose priority over expediated ? how much more was that

      • mine arrived today

  • looks like they will no longer ship to Australia? :[

    • check its not PO box & has your residential address
sigh, goddamnit, just got another one

      • I did. Normal physical address…

      • Yeah mine is a normal address, was a unit complex (1/20 Example St) so I switched it to work and still didn't work :(

        • you see comments below ? you are clicking the right order button ?

  • I contacted Amazon and I cannot cancel my previous (slightly more expensive) order (even though it hasn't shipped) but they are going to refund me the difference ;)
    hehe

    • wow

  • Saying cannot be shipped to this address. What's the deal?

    • not sure soz, mine went through ok a few mins ago to NSW add

  • Are you using the Link to amazon at the top of this post?

There are many other Crucial ssds on amazon that are sold by other resellers - most of which will not ship to Australia.

The link to amazon in this post can ship to Australia no probs (and I just tested it again).

    • Yes. I am using the link and have provided a normal bricks and mortar residential address. I have ordered off Amazon before and used the same address without problem.

      • Hmm, strange we are having this issue and others aren't.

      • That's very odd - not doing that for me.

    • There are 3 vendors: Tiger Direct, CircuitCity and Beach. I chose CircuitCity right?

      • Sold by: Amazon Export Sales, Inc.

      • +2

        http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W2JL2A/ref=ox_sc_act_ti…

Those vendors will not send to Aus, needs to be Amazon export

        • yeah click the top add to cart for amazon, not the ones listed above

        • Thanks for that bohn, with a little troubleshooting I got it sorted with this link.

          Cheers.

    • Just tried 3 different addresses (commercial, unit, house) in Sydney each from a different suburb. No deal for me?

      • onebutters, I fixed the issue for me, delete everything in your cart, click on the link bohn gave just above, add that to your cart (and only that) and you should be able to checkout.

deleting all but that won't work, it seems once it has denied shipping for whatever reason you need to start from scratch, and re-log into the checkout page with just that item in the cart.

Edit: Sad thing is I just wanted some injinji socks :(

Can get an ssd but not socks apparently, maybe it was because I wasn't ordering direct from Amazon, it's a real shame imo, I always liked Amazon a lot more before they started having all the resellers they have now, it would be nice if they separated them from their own stuff better.

  • You are clicking on the main (and larger) 'add to cart' button, right?

  • Bought one
Thanks op! Been waiting for a good deal.

  • price went back up?!

It shows 229.99 for me =[

    • looks like it, it's now $229 from Amazon, still $199.99 from tigerdirect and circuitcity, but I don't think they will ship to Australia.

    • Yeah, shows as 229.99 for me too. Oh well, no need to buy now lol.

  • damn price went up for me too….

  • Tuk,

I am a little surprised with the shipping estimates I was quoted:

    Shipping estimate: May 14, 2012 - May 15, 2012
    Delivery estimate: May 24, 2012 - June 7, 2012

Yet, you made a purchase approximately an hour earlier and were quoted:

Shipping Estimate Monday May 7, 2012
Delivery Estimate: Friday May 11, 2012

So it may be that they are now at a pre-order state and have run out of physical on-hand stock, or 'fast-shipping' really does make a difference in priority with regard to the shipping estimate date, as well as the delivery time.

I only discovered these longer time estimates after clicking to proceed with the order.

    • you paid extra for the faster shipping like Tuk ?

    • yeah I've got these shipping times as well, bit strange

  • Back to $199 again?

Just marked it as expired lol

    • it's all over the place now

    • +1

Unfortunately not. I am also seeing ~$229 through Amazon.

Scratch that - now $199 again. Happy times!

      • LOL, yeah back to 199 again.. omg..

  • seeing $199 here lol

  • Purt: it's $199.99 again.

Who is in charge of pricing at Amazon.. lolsss… :P

    • nice, just ordered it, $209 incl shipping

  • wowowow nice!!

  • +1

    Back up to $229.99….

    wtf amazon, hehe.

  • its funny click on the link $229…. goto my cart where i put one in when it was 199 and its still 199 in the cart

    • Not for me, it's definitely 229. I'm not sure how long amazon allows you to keep items in your cart which have out-dated prices?

Never been an issue for me.

  • all good checked out $199.00 for stock that was in cart at $199

    • haha well done :)

  • +1

Damn, shouldn't have woken up so late today…

  • it's back to $229.99 again.

  • +2

Have to + for Amazon, made an error in my order for qty, tried looking for how to change the qty but couldn't see any way to do so. Cancelled order, went to re-order but price had gone back up. I was like OMG. Hopped on chat, and after a bit of explaining, and checking of cancelled order details, she let me have it for the $199 price.

How can you beat that kind of customer service?

    • in Australia? firstly you need to let the retail industry know who give them the $$$

and yes, the answer would be: their CUSTOMERS (us)
probably 80%~90% of the online retailers have little to none services…
see how GroupBuy type websites operate? see how oo.com.au / directdeal / shoppingsquare / bla bla bla..
      and the list go on…

      what customer services? NIL!
(they're just "so-smart-system answering machine" if you want me to say it! problems? take ages to solved!)

  • Im always curious as to why amazon hate Australia so much (as in doesnt ship to Australia). = (

  • Dmmit was going to order when realised price jumped again…

  • +3

I bought mine for $240, just hopped on live chat and they will be refunding the difference from $199
    :)

    • -4

If the price increased instead, would you be happy if Amazon asked you to pay the difference?

      • dont get upset because you missed out mate

    • +2

People be Jelly to Neg you man.

      • +2

        I LOL'd! :)

    • +1

@mattstar you are a legend!!! (or should I say a star)
hopped on the live chat, took a while but eventually received a $30 promo applied to my cart before checkout, checked out at $206.63!! stoked!

  • what's the smallest & cheapest ssd you can get? even 64gb is too big - i just need something to fit a linux system on, maybe 20gb.

    • Have a look around for m-sata ssd's

Think you can get them as small as 30gb(but it's quite expensive, value-wise, when compared to others)

    • I think 60gb ocz vertex 2 was less than $90 last time i checked. I'm using this for my windows OS atm. Remember you should avoid filling the last 10% of your SSD.

    • There's heaps of 30gb SSDs around, you should be able to get one cheap now that larger sizes are dropping rapidly in price.

I originally got mine for $289 almost 2 weeks ago now. Last week i got a refund to $249. This morning i got further refunded to $229 (current amazon price). Needless to say i am very impressed.

    • -8

If the price falls to $150 in 3 months, are you going to ask for refund again?

      • +3

It's official, you be jelly! :p

      • +1

Well I haven't even received the drive yet. In answer to your question - if I haven't got my drive in 3 months then I most definitely WILL be asking lol just to spite you. Although at this rate it will probably be $150 in 2 weeks rather than 3 months.

All I did was ask nicely and without any pushing they were refunding me the difference. The second time I didn't even get the spiel about it not being their normal policy. So for 30 seconds of my time I think it's well worth it.

    • (not so) @CuteBirdy,
What's with you? this is your second weird comment in as many days.. This is a BARGAIN site, of course people are going to try and squeeze every dollar they can out of every deal, even if they already made a purchase.
For me those Amazon policies that allows us to do those things is one of the main reasons I love shopping there, you just know you will never get screwed over.

      • Update: received my drive last night. This thing flies on a fresh Win7 install.

Remember to set your BIOS to AHCI mode before installing Win7.

There's also a new firmware version F available. Not sure what version mine came with.

      • @ory_zm : Do you know what's going to happen if we keep demanding for refunds, like atlas? Amazon is not going to sell to Australia anymore. Because what store likes selling to a bunch of whiners, who agree to a price, then ask for a refund after the deal is made? Think, and you will see my point.

        • Your logic is a bit flawed because you're missing a couple of things.

          1. No one is compelling Amazon to offer refunds - they are doing it willingly. If they were to suddenly dislike selling to a bunch of 'whiners' who demand refunds the answer is simple - just do like most retailers and stop offering refunds.

          2. The fact that these drives are selling at $199 at other sites obviously indicates that selling at these lower prices is sustainable, especially for a large volume trader like Amazon.

          3. This actually generates goodwill for Amazon because as a result of this process, I am more inclined to buy goods from them because despite them being across the pond I now know that I can make the purchase without risk and receive excellent service.

        • Are you even aware of how retail works in the US? Most shops would allow you to return whatever you buy within 30 days and get your money back, no questions asked. My mate was trying to decide between 3 pairs of shoes and was told by the store "get them all and return the ones you don't like". So the whole mentality is completely different, and I promise you that whatever we aussies do would be nothing compared to an American customer.
Like atlas says, the reason I buy from Amazon is because of their policies and because I know they will always be OK to me, their customer. They know this too which is obviously the reason they operate in this way, it is a bit silly to say that it is bad of us to use those policies they put in place.

  • +1

Drive is back at $199.99US, for whoever missed out..

    • Grrr, back up now
