Like alot of other people here I picked up a nitro 5 on boxing day from Gerry.
Got it for my son for school.
Been working well but it seems the microphone isn't working.
Looks like he did the update to windows 11.
I went to the Acer site and downloaded the device specific drivers rather than the generics and it still doesn't work.
Wierd thing is no microphones work. Not the inbuilt, USB or even Bluetooth.
Has anybody seen anything like this before it goes back to Acer?
Common PEBKAC error if no mics work, not even USB.
Check your Sound settings.
This is not an Acer issue and sending it back will be a waste of your time and they'll probably stump you with an invoice.
Win 11 there's your problem.
Worst decision I ever made honestly but I can't be goofed going back to Win10.
Here's hoping the next feature update for Win11 fixes most of the gripes. Would be a similar story to Win10 then.
Checked the mixer. Tried manually selecting input device when USB is plugged in. It even shows on the volume meter but nothing records. Pretty sure something went to crap when windows 11 installed. Last step before manufacturer is to wipe it and reinstall windows 10
Again, it's not the manufacturer's fault. Wasting your time.
If it shows on the meter then it's definitely a PEBKAC error. What software are you using to record from the mic?

Let me guess, Zoom? Notorious for needing to go into the settings to get your mic and audio working.
Go back to Win10 tbh … sooo many bugs still in Win11
Particularly audio routing stuff.
Check the Windows privacy settings, there's a chance Mic permissions are disabled. I've encountered this before.
Is there an fn+f key to mute mic?
should not of updated windows 11. Looks like your fault!
Right click the sound in notification area near clock > Open Volume Mixer. See if there's something taking input device
