eBay's New Best Offer System

Hello

Thank you hellBay for making yourself even worse,

Now eBay requires user to give them full payment information at time of sending an offer to seller.

This supposedly means like zero ability to use any promo vouchers/giftcards that one could have gotten between sending offer and receiving offer acceptance.

Also unable to do a counteroffer i think.

I dont know about you but to me "eBay" is slowly and slowly becoming "hellbay"

Makes perfect sense. Weeds out the timewasters.

Doubt it. Once accepted an offer goes to your cart. You can apply a voucher in the cart.

not any more you need to give them at time of sending offers now which is ridiculous

been selling some stuff recently and founded I had too many buyer make an offer and not pay up or communicate change of mind. I now setup that payment is require if they win ( within the auto accept range). Like Zeggie said weeds out the timewasters

no it does not weed out timewasters

anyone can put fake payment information, at time of offer too, WTH is eBay gonna do that time?
charge of non chargeable payment ?

It is just making buyers pay more.

Yes it does weed out timewasters.

You're forgetting the fact that this is a seller enabled feature. It's not automatic. If a seller wants to weed out timewasters, that's their perogative.

It may also shock you, but a somewhat large company like eBay has payment verification…

This is exactly why Ebay in the end is worth the fees paid. It's a system where buying means paying, everywhere else is "bro I'll come down now with cash if you do it for 50% off".

Had no idea you could even cancel once offer was accepted..

Buyers cancel offers and orders whenever they want with ebay. Sometimes weeks after receiving the item. Unfortunately ebay nearly always sides with the buyer and they get their way!

  • just put an offer now it didn't ask me for payment details maybe it has something to do with the feedback of user

If you dont like it, stop using ebay.

OP clearly not a selling much on eBay, because if you were, you would understand the amount of times buyer's offers are accepted and then they screw around not paying for days, sometimes a whole week, or they just never respond at all, or when questioned why they arent paying they will say something like "dont want it" or "found it cheaper elsewhere" as though those are acceptable excuses when you have already commited to buy an item and are in the middle of a transaction.
I have been hoping for so many years that eBay would require immediate payment for offers so this news makes me very happy!

Well all i care is it should allow a flexibility of like 12-24 hours at least, so one can use any vouchers/gift cards etc. they can get after sending offer.

    As a seller, thank god.
    so annoying, so many timewasters.

Instant payment also stops all the trolls and market manipulators removing competitors by buying up all the listings. So annoying when it happens because you have to go relist everything and that can mean losing any promotional listings you've made.
