Where to find cheap Samsung UA55D7000 or Sony KDL-55HX820 TVs now the new models have come out.

Hi OzB,

I am chasing a reasonably high-end 55" LCD/LED TV and have had my eyes set on either:

Samsung UA55D7000
or
Sony KDL-55HX820

I was in the shops over the weekend and now these models are very hard to find, they have all been replaced with the new seasons models, which are priced around $3000… Recently the models I listed above were around the $1900-2200 range.

Does anyone know an online shop that can deliver either of these and has them priced well now they are clearance stock?

Thanks
Justin

  • I know this is not what you are asking for but:

Yes it's at $1000 at higest, but it's a much much superior machine as a flagship. Consider that: the HX925 is a full array LED that is fast at it, Samsung will continue to rip off customers with their Edge LED and LG who can't get their full array LED right, this will perhaps remain the best LED/LCD until OLED/LED-crystal smashes the market.

  • I am also looking for 55" led tv and come across this with a bit lower specs:

What u guys think? Worth the price for its specs?

  • I have a Samsung UA55C7000 TV, bought it for 2700/- in Feb last year. A great TV with a great picture quality, vibrant colours… the best investment ever…. I consider myself as a power user, I use most of its features e.g. 3D, Facebook, Youtube, Skype, Google maps etc, TV is connnected to the internet via LAN so I can stream movies, direct from my laptop wirelessly, I use Serviio on my laptop as a DLNA program, which does the movie decoding, so I can play any movie format I like…also can turn on the subtitles if needed….

The only thing it doesn't have as compared to the TV that came in 2012 is the inbuilt Browser support…. but with time I think there will be some firmware updates (or hacks) be available to include the browser functionality. I have seen some posts on Samygo.com to include the browser by hacking the firmware, but haven't tried it yet.

This model was selling for 2000/- on catchoftheday.com.au and bigbrownbox, about 4-5 ago - Not sure if its available now, as it's a discontinued model.

  • Sony KDL-55HX720 can be picked up sub-$1500.
Just wondering what the BEST price someone has been able to get on this.

I did read $1300 elsewhere, but not sure where or if a receipt can be uplaoded for price matching…
