Best 13-14in Laptop for Performance?

What do you think is the best laptop to buy right now?

I'm looking for at 13-14in windows laptop which will primarily be used for office work including some programming, video editing (maybe some gaming though this isn't a requirement). I don't really have a budget but anywhere <$3000 would be reasonable. Anything with at least at 512gb SSD, 16gb RAM, and either i7 or Ryzen 7 processing should be adequate, though definitely happy for anything that beats those parameters. My current laptop is a Lenovo Yoga and I've found it to have a low battery life and way too much bloatware, so I guess having a good battery (for at least 6 hours of use) and no bloatware would be great. I definitely do not want another Lenovo laptop.

Have been considering a surface laptop 4 or HP Spectre x360 but not entirely sold on either. Would appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks!

The Asus ROG FLOW X13 with AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS is around $1999 AUD locally. Pre-order though and not actually in stock yet.

The older model with Ryzen 9 5900HS and RTX 3050 is $2339.

If you require a GPU, your options are essentially

    1. Razer blade 14
    2. Asus G14
    3. Alienware X14

as the main contenders. Out of these 3, I would say that the Asus (2021 or yet to be released 2022) presents the best value. Definitely more than $3000 in certain specs though.

Bloatware / substandard drivers are normal for almost any laptop, regardless of what you buy you should be nuking it with a new OS install from freshly created install media and latest drivers to make sure you know where its at before use.
The surface range is great but i'd be getting an extended onsite warranty on it as most of the range are a monster to service / fix, the HP spectre I would steer clear of unless you really have a thing for the styling as they aren't the most reliable thing in the world.
The Dell XPS 13 is probably the best compromise if you want premium looks / feel. For a serious work machine my normal pick in this range would be Thinkpad P14s Gen 2 as its probably one of the best to use for coding on the go.
