Hi

Got a Eufy wireless cam and now am having some issues setting up the correct motion detection ..

This Picture and this shows the the Camera installation point, and it only detects motion from red marked here
The activity zone is marked in this picture .The motion sensor is already at the highest sensitivity

not sure what wrong I am doing here , any suggestions!

  • Have you tested at different times of the day and at night?

    • not during night yet.

      • Try removing the activity zone. You only need that if you want to isolate a small area.

        • Yup did it.. doesn’t help much

          • @Ehty: Possibly a faulty camera then. If you’ve got another one mounted elsewhere, swap them around and see if the issue persists.

            • @Pecan: Will try that too and update

              • @Ehty: Replaced camera , nothing changes

  • Hi OP I've got the same problem with my 3 eufy cams but a lot worse than yours. It doesnt even detect anyone half the time! Tried everything to troubleshoot but nothing works. Found 2 more colleagues who have the same issue.
Eufy were not very helpful. Returned to store for a refund. I'd recommend the same to you.

  • Are saying it detects motion between camera and red line and not beyond? Or it does not detect motion in regions either side of red line (horizontally)?

    • It detects motion between camera and red line only

      • Sorry for bombarding you with questions but…
What model camera is it? Does the spec sheet mention anything about detection performance? I am assuming it is not PIR based since it has activity zone selection feature.

Does tilting the camera up or down move the red line closer or away?

Have you tried resetting to factory defaults?

Lastly, can you swap to another unit and see if problem replicates?

        • EUFY 2C Pro 2k..

I am not sure much about detailed specs, but as per this it has PIR.

Tilting does move the red line away but just a little . This is new cam so didnt reset it but yeah did try another unit since I have 4 and it was same.

          • @Ehty: Maybe someone else with same unit can confirm this… I think you might be limited by the PIR sensor range/field of view (as is the case with most battery cams). If my suspicion is in fact true then the activity zone is merely affecting what the camera records/notifies you rather than what it detects.

My suggestion would be to reach out to Eufy tech support via email or telephone.

            • @OldSchoolHarry: Thanks I had cancelled the activity zone based on comment above

              Will check with customer service

  • I’ve got same issue. Very hit and miss. I have mine set to record for every motion however battery does suffer. Had someone steal my whole mailbox in front of the camera and it had recorded nothing. *eyeroll

    • Wtf. That’s disappointing

  • Based on my experience, if someone runs through the activity zone of a Eufy camera it is very unlikely that they will be detected and recorded. If recording is triggered you won't see them on the video or you may see just a glimpse as they leave the activity zone.
You can't beat hardwired cameras recording 24/7.

  • I’ve got the same issues with Eufy, after researching online the closest thing I could find was that the motion detection won’t always be reliable because it needs time to ‘trigger’. Each of my devices are slow to start recording and triggering when I would expect them to, and there have been many times they haven’t gone off when I would expect them to

  • I got them and they are okay but I would say they only record maybe about 75 percent of people who walk pass .

I've had recordings of the post person leaving the house after delivering a package but not the recording of then walking up to the house.
People have entered the house yet non recordings.
Their sensor range is quite poor. It has never detected my car in the drive way, only about 7 metres away.

I would like to send them back but I kept them for a while before finally installing them. It's probably been about 6 months and may be a bit of a painful process to get a refund… But they are sort of useless.
