Medibank PHI - Level of Cover Change

Hi all,

I have been with Medibank for years and last week I lowered my hospiral and extras cover.
With medibank I can claim 100% on optical, and my previous cover gave annual limit of $200 per person.

However, I noticed that my current/lower cover only gives $150pp. In family of 4, it means $200 less to claim per year.

The change of cover has 30 day cooling off period.
I am thinking to change back to my previous cover, then over the coming months, I plan to use the limits, then change to the lower cover before Oct as they will then increase the premium.
I assume once I change to the lower cover, all the optical limits (4 x $150) will be marked as used (?)

Can anyone confirm if this would be the case / would work?
Any gotcha I need to be aware of?

Thanks

  • How much cheaper is the new cover?

  • +2

    Yes, your assumption is correct

    • They may also carry over the difference to next year.
Happened to my housemate last year when he dropped his cover but had used his higher sub limit

      • Was your housemate with Medibank at the time?

    • You seem to be confident in your answer.
Have you experienced this yourself with Medibank previously?

  • Are you using the Livebetter App? You can increase your returns a lot with that, and its free

    • Is that the one that you need to give them access to your data eg. Exercise, sleeping etc?
      I dont use it.
What benefits do you get? Last time I checked, seems it will be progressively harder to get benefits over time (?)

  • You have to log in each day, tick each challenge and will get $300 worth each year. I just collected 140 worth of chemist vouchers

    • thanks. does the rewards get harder to get over time?

      • when you learn how to play the game its a walk in the park, and free money. You can choose an extras limit increase which is what you want, and there are points left over
