40hrs Melb to Athens. 21 hrs return No thanks even with a gut full of booze I couldn’t do it.

Fly one day earlier or later and it's usually only 25 hours for about $30 more.

    • -2

      40hrs Melb to Athens.

      What !!!!!!

    • Depends where the stopovers are. I don’t mind Changi. They have the Jewel mall basically next door which is pretty cool

      • i don't mind 2-3 hours there but the first layover was 5 hours and then coming back (to sydney) was 17 hours, stuff that.

i tried multi city flight so can stay in singapore more but nah just fks up the itinerary and price goes up

        • I see it as an opportunity to check out new things without committing to an actual holiday there. As long as there are decent public transport routes it’s fine. I guess YMMV really

          • @Icecold5000: you're talking about leaving the airport..? i thought you can't do that with a layover, you had to stay in the airport?

anyway i've got a baby and toddler so don't think i'll be going anywhere anytime soon sadly lol

  • How would one rate their experience on Scoot with kids?

    • +1

The Mrs had no problems at all with our toddler, traveled both ways with Scoot, returned via SG just this weekend.
Flights between Melb-SG were not heavily booked so that helped.

Bring food like simple sandwiches with spreads (peanut butter/vegemite etc) and muesli bars etc. Food on board is expensive and not that great.

Also just make sure you weigh everything exactly as delays because of bags etc just adds to complications.

      • Does Scoot allow you to bring food on board now? Last time I did that, the stewardess (quite rudely) told me outside food was not allowed.

        • i had the same experience being told off for a tiny packet of chips the kids had

        • Do what you want if you can handle the evil looks. AA food is a lot better.

          • @Icecold5000: In my case, it wasn't the evil look. She literally told me off loudly enough for everyone in the cabin to hear.

            • @ddhar: I’d just continue eating. Why are you shamed by eating better food than what they serve.

              • @Icecold5000: I did, once she moved away from me.
The experience pissed me off and I have not flown Scoot since. Much prefer Jetstar as they don't pick an issue on this (and the flight hours are generally more humane).

My question remains for those who have recently travelled with Scoot: Has their outside food policy (or culture) changed?

        • +1

I just looked it up and it is indeed on their policy that it's not allowed.

Either way, just say that your children have specialised dietry requirements due to allergies and they can only eat what you give them. (Don't say they have a nut allergy if you're giving them a peanut butter sandwich though).

I would avoid smelly things like tuna or any meats at all. Stuff that doesn't smell and can stay in a non-cooled bag for a few hours is what you should go for.

          • +2

@b2dz: Policy isn’t the law and they’re not going to turf you out mid-flight. I have eaten a KFC three piece box on Scoot. Life changes when you literally don’t give AF about what people think anymore.

            • @Icecold5000: I am trying to find some regulations about entry with food to theme parks etc that may be similar but I can't find it. Completely agree with you though, the only thing is that generally in air arguments can escalate quite quickly and your rights are not exactly well defined. As long as you stay calm and aren't a dick about it it should be fine.

              • +4

@b2dz: Say you can only eat kosher and if they complain then say not to provide a full kosher menu is religious discrimination. Start growing your sideburns.

  • damm wanted to go in november lol

dear OP,are you aware when will they release the Xmas/new year ticket?

  • Time to attend Big Fat Greek Wedding!

    • "What do you mean, you don't eat no meat?"

That’s OK, I will give you lamb.

Do they do the plate smashing during the flight?

      Fasolatha for all the passengers

I hope the oxygen masks on the plane work then….

        • 15minutes apparently

        • It should work but you have to pay extra for oxygen mask.

  • +1

Better off paying 1000 for qatar or Emirates etc
    ..

41 hrs SYD-ATH for Scoot on 8 Sep - basically a day layover in SIN for 21 hrs from 3am to just after midnight

way to FU your sleep patterns - or adjust for jet lag - depending on your optimism …

    • You'd better be able to sleep on the plane so you arrive fresh and are able to tour Singapore during the layover. Otherwise, it's literally sleepy hell in a foreign country.

  • I've been to Athens a lot of times, and let me tell you, 40 hours is not feasible unless you're a student blase about waiting. I had a 6 hour layover at Doha last time I went, and the only thing that saved me was the lounge where I could shower and refresh.

If you really want to go, the price is amazing, however the value of Qatar and Emirates is worth the $1k more (in my opinion).

    • i think if you had 40 hrs unless if you can go transit explore..then it would be too much.

  • Why no deals for July D;

Why don’t they add in the disclaimer about mandatory involvement in this human injectables experiment, if you wish to travel

It’s in breach of international law. Just wait until the lawyers start challenging all this.

    • Where were you this past 2 years?

    • International law 😂

  • Is MyTrip.com reliable…? Online reviews for them look terrible but I know they've been around for years now. Not expecting covid-era cancellations later this year either.

  • +1

You gotta love some of the combinations. Spend 40 hours traveling (each way lol) just to be there for 3 days. Only an oligophrenic would do that.

  • Dear OP, any idea when will they release the Dec tickets?
