    • $8.50 delivery fee?
It's bought online, and you get an online confirmation just like buying a ticket online from Event/GU/B&C/Village

      • maybe not then, thought i remember hearing this somewhere. My bad.

    • $8.50 delivery? … it was $10 flat including booking fee.
I registered, bought and printed the ticket online. Got my cheap movie in 5mins.

Or just sign up for the free Rydges Priority Guest card and use the code RYDGES on the Event Cinemas site.

    • Where on the site?

      • +1

On the Buy Tickets page in the "Enter a voucher, promo code or gift card" box.

Doesn't work for 3D movies though. I assumed this was the case for the Optus deal since there's no T&C/* details of the deal on the linked site.

  • Does this apply to 3D, big screen (Vmax) etc? Or just the cheapest possible session (2d, small screen, wooden seat)?

    • Cheapest
If you want 3D and VMax, you have to pay the surcharge. IIRC it's $4 for VMax now and $3 for 3D.

      • yeah sounds about right. starts adding up when you go to VMAX. use to be 3 dollars a few weeks back. I wouldn't be suprrised if the surcharge is 6 dollars now for vmax haha and booking online there's that booking fee too.

    • I booked vmax 3d tickets about 5mins before OP posted this, 2 tickets for $32 + $2 for glasses

    Welcome to last year, champ

    • How is your never valid if it's an old deal?

      • Pardon?

        • I remember reading in the wiki, that a deal can be reposted if it was previously posted over 6 months ago. I now can't find it. Mods, care to comment?
          Edit:

        • Does ozbargain have button to list all non expired deals? Ongoing deals?

        • @grasstown, trouble is many many deals never get marked as expired… No one cares enough about them to do so

        • grasstown, you can do a search and then toggle the option in the advanced search options. Thats assuming the deal is marked as expired but.

      • I did not mean like that. I just assume that it's only applicable for optus customer, so it's a waste of time for me to share it here. since, the people that are not optus customer cannot use this.

  • I purchase for friends and use my cinebuzz to score free tix.

Works well, used for the avengers last night. $10 well spent ;)

  • I need help how did you do it. I registered and click the link try to purchase a ticket from Village Doncaster however I just get normal price of $23.50 for 3D Avenger what did I did wrong?

    • Was ticket for sat after 5pm? Then it's normal price

how is this not a dupe. this offer has been around for ages.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50056

  • Fyi You can use any optus phone number it doesn't have to be yours. And same phone number can be used multiple times
I created an account using my daughters ph number and she has one too.

  • Last time I checked, I don't think you can't use these tickets on Sat >5pm

    • Correct. When you click the link, the page says "Valid any time except after 5pm on Saturdays".

  • ^ I have before but am unsure if it has changed

This deal is as old as the hills but for those not in the know - It can't be used Saturday night, need to pay extra for Vmax and 3d usually can't be used on advance tickets but sometimes works.

You can get around not being an optus member just change the web address on the ticket buying page of Event from www.eventcinemas.blahblahbookingsource=web_home to www.eventcinemas.blahblahsource=optus once you've done this the optus offer ticket option will appear under the usual adult tickets

    I'll repeat that's source=optus not bookingsource=optus

    • Does not work for me, have they fixed the loophole?

      • +1

works fine make sure its not a Saturday night ticket
needs to be lower case and again must be source=optus not bookingsource=optus

    • Doesn't work anymore. Probably they have fixed the issue.
Edit: Works with source=optus (not bookingsource=optus).

    • who cares if this was posted 99 years ago….
  • Cmon guys we saw the Coldplay precedent, get with it.

  • +1

In WA, only valid at Innaloo and Morley. $14 for 3D inc glasses and booking fee.

  • is this available for pre-paid people as well?

    • +1

Yes. But all you really need is to know any Optus number. They don't confirm it - ie no SMS code.

  • =Optus hasn't worked for a while now.

    • +4

Worked for me an hour ago, needs to be lower case and again must be source=optus not bookingsource=optus

      • Lovely. Works fine. Thanks for that. :)

      • Yep, that's the business. :)

      • thanks Melmac - never pay full price anymore :)

  • i can't register?

  • to bad doesnt work at reading cinemas otherwise is a good deal for me

  • +1

This is old news. Should of checked before reposting it again.

  • +1

Nothing new nor great about this…

  • +2

I always turn up to the cinema, book the tickets on my mobile, skip the queue, and they scan the barcode from my mobile.

  • Is Virgin and Optus the same?

    • +1

      No. Virgin and Optus different.

  • "Password needs to be a combination of letters, numbers, at least 1 uppercase character, at least 1 special character (any 3 of 4)"

    Sigh.

  • Worked for me! Bought tickets for friends also! Great deal! Thanks for the heads up OP!
