What is the difference between this one and $100 ones?
These have a built in compressor so you don't need to put the bowl in the freezer for 24-48 hrs before you can make icecream. With these you can make icecream back to back.

Seems like a lot to pay just for the extra convenience. I guess if you make a lot of ice cream it might be handy.
I guess each to their own, but you're right, that being the major difference you have to decide if the putting the bowl in the freezer and it taking space, and not being able to make icecream anytime you feel like it right then and there is worth saving money.
For me I just went with paying extra because I knew there would be moments I'd just want to make icecream, and if guest came over I could make as many as I wanted.

Any one have experience with these vs the breville smart scoop? Alot of reviews say this one freezes at the walls and jams the mixer
I've had this for around a month and it has been perfect. No jamming or anything. Though one thing that has popped up is a squeaking sound coming from the bit in the bowl that turns the paddle, and in which I contacted Cuisinart and they immediately sent out a free replacement bowl.
Not bad, but terrible discount. Many stores, such as Victoria's Basement have been selling it for 399 for more than a year. I bought it for 343 on afterpay day.
