OP, please make a note that this is UK version and it is quite likely that it does not have AUS/NZ Maps. Q&A states that it might but the reviews indicate otherwise.

      thanks RandomDealHunter, done.

I saw this deal 30 minutes ago on amz too. So you think it's worth it? I wish the fenix 7 was this much.

    • What's your use case for this watch?

      • Just a few swims here and there.

        • Ive been a Garmin user for 10 years, but have a look at the coros pace 2. They seem like amazing value!

great deal. I bought it the other day for $523 from Amazon UK via AU too. Haven't got it yet. saw that AU/NZ maps are like $200 on Garmin site which seems ridiculous. I don't mind paying a bit but that's too much.

would be good to have UK/Europe maps included. Q&A and reviews are very confusing as to what the experience will be with this. I don't need super amazing maps. But will this just show a blank map outside the UK??..

Garmin should be a lot clearer on this.

I didn't want to pay many hundreds more for Fenix 7 which had only a few extra features like touchscreen, battery life, and health snapshot.

    • Kogan has the Fenix 6 Pro for $599 currently ($589 for First members), and it's official AU stock so it will come with the AU/NZ maps.

      • thanks, great article. just saw in that article that with UK model I should get all of Europe maps which is better to me than AU&NZ anyway.

a bit of work to load maps, but looks like it is possible. if Garmin just made it $20 I'd happily just buy them.

      • I wonder if there's any downside from a maps perspective if buying this watch from Amazon UK and intending to use the Fenix in Australia. Yes, you'll need to download the Australian maps yourself as set out in that article, but is it any different to buying the Fenix from Amazon AU, then downloading some USA maps if you're flying to USA for a hike / run / cycle?

I suppose you may not have the "official" AU map, but it seems the official AU map is based on the free downloadable maps anyway.

If there's no downside from the maps perspective, then the price seems good. Although there could be warranty downsides which I raised in another post…

        • I don't see huge downside. I will travel and then want to use maps. so I will work out how to load the free maps which sound almost as good. also I only use maps generally if I get lost when running so it's not a huge issue tbh.

google search indicates probably an international warranty on Garmin devices. so I'll be registering it when I get it.

I'd probably pay $50 more if I could get the AU version, but at present it's $600 on Kogan, and I'd also much much prefer to buy on Amazon due to easy returns (Especially DOA or if I change my mind for some reason)

Do Garmin watches have native interaction with Google phone apps eg Fit, Pay, SMS replies etc ?

    • +2

Not native. You can do it through Garmin's own app for fitness and pay. Sms replies are limited and you can't easily read all your msgs or call from your watch. Some of other models are better with this but it's still a far cry from Apple or Samsung.

This and (most garmin watches) are a fitness watch with smartwatch capabilities rather than the other way around. You're supposed to be too busy pushing your physical limits to worry about connectivity.

        Thanks mit

  • I am a daily Fenix 6 Pro user. The HR tracking is not the best (my Huawei GT 2 pro is more accurate).

Also, while advertised battery life is 14 days, the software updates make this very inconsistent. I get about 4days on current version with Ox tracking all day on. GT2 Pro lasts over 2 weeks.

However, I rely on Body Battery feature a lot and it has especially kept me in check during recent COVID isolation where I could monitor Body Battery, Stress, Sleep, HR and Pulse Ox in one spot. From my experience, it helped me recover faster (and made a case to take afternoon naps to recharge body battery)!

  • If I'm buying this through Amazon UK via AU, then how would the warranty work if I have an issue with the Fenix 6 Pro? Will Garmin in Australia deal with it, or will I need to ship this back to the UK?

And does anyone know what the return policy for buying through Amazon UK via AU? I think Amazon AU's policy is rather lax - is it return within 30 days no questions asked?

    • I think returns are easy. previously for overseas orders on Amazon AU all I had to do was print the return label and send it (free). once it hits the Amazon depot in AU they refunded. no questions.

re Garmin warranty.. someone should ask Garmin.. would be good to confirm international warranty..
