If its water was damaged, then just replace the water.

Can't see the filler tube, though.

    • I just downloaded and read the user manual. Technically you are meant to use blinker fluid and it requires a special tool (purchased separately) for injection via an orifice which is located easily when the battery is removed.

Are they asking to replace it with a new one? I would look on Scamtree or Fartbook and get a used one to replace that one.

I wouldn’t replace it with a brand new one. That’s like dinging into someone’s busted arse paddock basher Hilux and them expecting a brand new one as a replacement. In that condition, there is no reason to believe that it wasn’t already 1/2 busted before you even touched it.

      I'd second this ^

Looks like its already had a hard life and maybe the owner is just trying to sucker a freebie out of OP. Also check if the battery is busted too, if tis not, thats one less thing to worry about as batteries arnt cheap either

  • how much I would be expected to pay for its replacement as this look old.

You're legally only required to replace like for like.

    New = new
    Second hand = second hand

It also depends on how OP supposedly caused said damages and why they are now responsible for replacement.

  • Owner is claiming its water was damaged. and how much I would be expected to pay

This is already damage and look well used.

Might not be worth you while (unless it's free, this is OzB after all). Maybe better off buying new. You'll get warranty.

    Btw Milwaukee are excellent tools.

They can be exposed to tap, rain, dirty water and mud, cleaned, air-dried and still work as if nothing has happened.

Try to clean it and use high-pressure air to blow out all the water and dirt.

  • Second hand one here on eBay plus try the old battery first.

  • Get him to watch Project Farm on yt

I have a feeling OP is an apprentice, borrowed a tool and now is up for it not working…

    • +2

One would like to hope that an Apprentice is capable of identifying an Impact Wrench even just after their first day on the job

Exactly. No one above this small thread, thinks to ask.

How can someone damage a tool they dont even know what it is?

I mean did they just pee on it by mistake, hose it down accidentally, knock the owner into a pool?

Did they borrow it to play Tennis with it?

And you would think at least the one claiming for a replacement would say something like, hey buddy you damaged my wrench because of… so f'ing replace it.

  • Does it run? If not then you run.

You can always get him a brand new replacement wrench from wish.com

  • +4

OP, how did you damage it? Why do you think your liable?

  • +1

Going to need the back story…

But in general if you borrowed a tool and broke it by been negligent, replace with new. If it wasn’t negligence, I would offer amount equal to what they are selling for second hand and give the owner the option to use that towards buying a new one or buying a second hand one.

I borrowed it.. I left the tool outside then it rained heavily and it got wet.

    • It's a pretty legit tool with limited uses. What were you using it for?

    • Is it actually dead?

If you do replace it with new make sure you keep the old one if it’s still working.

  • Is it under warranty? :p

And what is wrong with your Google or search abilities?

The name is there, or if you can not Google…go to a Tool store online or in person yourself.
