How to Unlock ZTE F327S Phone Locked with Telstra?

Hi all, I bought this basic phone couple of years ago and never used. Its locked with Telstra. I am in overseas at the moment and thought would give this to my mum as a backup phone.

I tried using a local sim (non-Oz), but it doesn't work - confirming that its locked.

Does anyone have a suggestion as in how to unlock it without being in Australia?

The phone model is ZTE F327S WCDMA.

I tried calling Telstra, but the wait was too long for an international roaming.

Thanks again.

Past discussion about ZTE F327S unlocking, looks like people pay someone to generate unlock codes.

Might want to look at the frequency support before you unlock it for use with non-telstra network, 3G is getting shut down and some telcos don't use 850mhz 3G, you will not be able to place any calls if you don't have the right bands.

  • 26 months till closure of 3G

Why bother? Just buy her a 4G capable phone

    • not all countries are so desperate to drop the older Gs, even the USA still has 2G, although i think most providers are closing it down by the end of this year. so depending on which country the mother lives in, it might be fine.

    • She has a basic (small) phone that she carries when she goes anywhere. Also has a smartphone primarily for using WhatsApp to call myself and others. This phone I thought could be used as a backup. But looks like more trouble than its worth.

  • Depending on where you are, this might be a struggle.
You need to check the bands that your Mum is on before giving her a turkey.
    According to specs GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900. WCDMA 900, 1900, 2100
Probably best off just getting a cheap phone locally, depending on your location
