Building The Cheapest Sit-Stand Desk

So I want a good, solid sit stand desk. I don't necessarily want to build one (i.e. get a frame and a table top and do some screwing in), but this is usually the cheapest.

Here are some of the things I'm looking for
- Dual Motors- Many say that dual motors are smoother and faster, which they obviously are, and can lift more weight. I'm planning to have around 25 kgs of stuff on the desk (not including the tabletop - the ikea ones I'm looking at are 20-30 kgs), and people say that dual motors are usually the way to go. But if your experience with single motor designs says otherwise, could you please reply with if single motor is enough for me.
- 150 cm long- I need it to be at least 150 cm. My current desk is 140x60 and this is a bit too small for me. Everybody knows bigger is always better, so there isn't really a max size, aside from what the frame will allow.
I don't mind the min/max height, I can adapt.
Total cost under $375, but for me lowest is best.

I found this frame on amazon, and I thought it was a pretty good deal. Some other dual motor frames I saw posted on here went for more than this (such as this one) , but I am unsure of the quality and the usability.

I plan to use this tabletop from ikea, which I have found on gumtree for $70
https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/ekbacken-worktop-brown-walnut-e… I know its longer than what the frame says its compatible with but i think i can get away with that.

Do you guys think that I can build/buy for anything cheaper than this? Also, if you guys have a sit stand desk, what are your opinions on owning one? Is it overrated, or worth it, and which one do you have?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Min height matters more than you think.. You can't really adapt because your height is what it is.. You have to make sure that the min height goes low enough for your seating position to be ergonomic.

The frame doesn't really say the weight limit, might not matter cause most people wont have more than 20-30kg of stuff on their table.

$375 is already pretty cheap. Bought my frame for $290 a year and a half ago and bought some table top for about $25 on Amazon. If I had a bigger space, I'd probably go for the Ikea table bench top you linked.

    • I bought a sit stand desk that advertised 60cm min height but that was the frame. Because the table top was about an inch thick, and the feet on the frame were another cm or so, it only goes down to 63.8cm.

  • have you checked gumtree? I picked up my 3motors L corner desk with 8yrs of warranty left for $300.

  • Single motor for home use is fine. Don't overwork the control box electronics, typical duty cycle is something like 2 mins ON, 18 mins OFF.

Personally I find table depth of 60cm to be insufficient.. prefer 70-75cm. Spend as much as your budget allows for the frame. Grab a table top cheap off gumtree.

  • I bought frame from below shop and top from IKEA

Higher than your budget but I wanted the IKEA top dimensions fit my room setup

Frame is 130kg capacity. Some cheap frames out there at only 90kg capacity

    • Just wondeeing, did IKEA table fits the screw for the retaildisplay frame? Im thinking of pairing it wirh IKEA Bekant. Any idea? TiA

      • yes the Ikea tabletop is 38mm thick, made of particleboard inside. Just pre-drill using a very small drill bit, then screw into the pre-drilled holes.
