    Chucks

All u need is a hard flat rubber sole.

Unless you in it for the gram or are lifting high triple numbers

    • Have been lifting triple number and having trouble with raising my heels at each lift.. untill now i used to place a disk underneath heal and its not helping so have been suggested to invest in a shoe.

Last time i did a squat with triple number in weight my right leg slipped off the disk and i could have injured myself so really keen for the switch then paying excess on my medical insurance.

I’d say you’re going to be disappointed by anything less than romaleos then

      • is the excess more expensive than the shoes?

      • Romaleos are the gold standard, however, chucks have never failed me.

I often lift barefoot (at home) and just have a wooden plank with the height I like instead of using small weights to give me the lift needed.

      • hmmmm, I think you may have some work to do on your form.
That sounds like forward lean in the bottom of your squat. Pushing from the ball of your foot instead of the heel.
        High bar or low bar?

    • I agree, Chucks are my favourite for the gym.

Buy the Nike ones you mentioned. Spend the extra bucks if you really care about those gains! 💪

    • This but unironically.

If he's squatting triple digits on the regular and already messing around with disks/etc under his heels then he might as well invest in a proper (i.e. expensive…) pair of weightlifting shoes.

  • Aliexpress sell a ton, I mean Rogue resell Do-Win in USA

    • I have these, they're more to Nike sizing. Great as a basic/beginner's Weightlifting shoe.

If your heels are lifting it likely means your back is overcompensating for the heavier weight.

Sit back into your squat and focus on pushing hips through as you come up. I like to imagine my feet pushing through the ground, helps with follow through.

No one likes to hear it but you prob need to drop the weight a bit

  • I use Vibram (the 5 toe shoes) for gym
    https://barefootinc.com.au/collections/fitness-mens/products…

It is flat, allows your fingers to spread out/dig in for stability and gives the barefoot feeling for training. I always think if you posture is right then you foot would stay flat on groud when weight lifting.

Nike Romaleos!! They're so worth the money. I'm really hard/tough on my shoes as well and they are one year in and don't show any wear and tear so can highly recommend!

Go for the Romaleos. Spend the extra bucks.

I wear them for my squat and just achieved 200kg at 81.2kg body weight.

  • Can you go shoe-less in your gym? I do squat and dead lift just in socks.

  • For squats? High bar low bar? What's your ankle mobility like?

This would determine whether you want a flat shoe or a raised heel.

  • I do all my workouts with thongs
