Looking for Disc Double Din Android Auto Head Unit

Update: Bit the bullet and purchased the pioneer 4450 from Bankstown car audio and will have to load the kids cds onto USB.

Hi all, have seen some great Easter sales on Android auto/CarPlay capable media units, but alas, none on sale that also have a cd/DVD slot.

Has anyone seen any sales on the ones that do??

The few in stock are $700 and above, but I have seen posts historically for prices comparable to the media units.

I am guessing the majority of people don't need the disc support with their phones these days for all their content.

This is for the family car and the kids have many cds that we rotate on drives. Prefer the disc drive anyway as I also have a bunch of cds. The android auto function for us is mostly waze and phone support.

    Why would you need a CD slot if you have Android Auto/Apple CarPlay? Just do what @black crush suggested and rip them to your USB drive/phone

    Yes you certainly can. I did that with the last family car and let's just say the USB never took off. Some people are not tech, that's the situation.

    Discs filled the need, try as I might to promote the use of the digital media, some people just don't seem to do that.

    But it would seem that unless I'm going into the higher price category, I may have to have another run at getting the digital stuff to take……unless I find a mechless unit that would drive a disc stacker perhaps….

      Have an accessible USB port and rip the CDs to individual USB drives. Change disc = change USB.

        I'm hoping a single USB will work once I take them through the folder = disc etc….

      Oh I'm on board! IV had multiple systems with CarPlay and Android auto but this is my wife's car……

    Do they even make cd players with android auto?? I havnt seen any before.

      They do, but over the last 2 or so years I have seen those models being discounted less and less.

      My guess is the manufactures have a much wider market for the mechless multimedia systems than they did a few years ago.

      As an example the recent Disney film Luca didn't release a cd for the soundtrack, as it went digital only.

      But I bought a multi media mechless unit so hope to get it all sorted.

    I have a double din sportage head unit if ya want to take a ride to the 2000's

    My recommendation would be an aliexpress unit
    $200 and they're pretty decent quality with most of the features you'd ever need

    I kinda get you. CD or 3 can be easier than fumbling through 100 folders on a USB. My cheap android head isn’t is a pain to scroll though and you can’t search it.

    Maybe you could knock up a few different USBs to suit different playlists and keep them in the glovebox.
