This is my first OzBargain post so please bare and point me out my mistake..
I have received the following email.. from tiger airways

Go with us on a one-day adventure!

We're filming an adventure from Melbourne to a mystery destination with 180 of you for our first ever Australian TV advert.

What you need to know

  • You'll need to be free on the 23rd the of May.
  • You'll need valid Photo ID to fly, for instance an Australian Driver's license (or Learner's).
  • For getting involved, you'll be given a Tiger flight voucher to use within 12 months anywhere in Australia.
  • The trip is only for Melbourne residents (but we'll be doing fun stuff for other states soon, promise!)
  • It won't all be fun, because the camera crew will be filming there will be a bit of standing around. (But hey, any excuse for a winter trip to the warm mystery destination is better than sitting in Melbourne freezing!)
  • You'll need to be cool with being in a TV ad. Don't worry, you won't have to do any acting and you'll be one of over 180 people filmed.

Terms & Condition:

  • The agreement between Tiger Airways – Australia and the talent requires attendance to film on Wednesday 23/05/12. All talent must be prepared to arrive by their own means of transport at Melbourne International Airport (Tullamarine), Terminal 4 by 6:00am and for a return no later than 11.59pm on Wednesday 23/05/12.
  • All talent agrees to be flown and be transported to a filming location.
  • All talent must be prepared to jump in a swimming pool fully clothed, possibly several times as requested.
  • All talent must bring with them 3 sets of clothing.
  • Flights, ground transport, light refreshments and lunch will be provided.
  • Remuneration to the value of $200 in the form of Tiger Airways – Australia vouchers will be provided to talent used in the filming.
  • Payment will be made at the appropriate rate specified in these terms upon signing of the standard Release Form. Such payment is the full and only amount payable by the Company (McCann Worldgroup) in respect of the services rendered by the person/s engaged and identified above.
  • The Company (McCann Worldgroup) and its assigns may use and publish the work performed during the engagement in the publicity matter/s stated. The work performed during the engagement may also be used for whatever length of time by the Company (McCann Worldgroup) unless other arrangements are made between the Company (McCann Worldgroup) and above mentioned person/s. Such recordings shall be the sole andabsolute property of the Company.
  • The person/s engaged hereby grant/s to the Company (McCann Worldgroup) for all purposes such copyright the person/s engaged may have in all items and performances.
  • Participation in the production will require talent to sign a release form on the day of filming.

    Good effort with the amount of information though

    6Am till midnight@ an airport , that is a long shift for anyone.

      Having been an movie extra - required to be wet a lot of times around this time of year, it is not much fun - even in a "warm mystery destination" or the Gold Coast!! But good experience, pay, day out, and $200 Tiger voucher.

    Sounds like fun. But what happens if more than 180 people turn up? First come/first served? I bet there's also a criteria that only the best looking and photogenic people will be chosen.

      for sure more than 180 people will rock up…

      whats the going rate for movie extra's? more than $200/day in vouchers I would guess?

      The demand for places will be the main event - free advertising for Tiger!
      The paid ad will be just to back up the free promo from this competition.

        normally you'd have to pay a casting agency and sundries for 200 extra's. Now you basically pay nothing as the vouchers will be used up on empty seats in a plane.

        Tiger is basically saving 100k easy here.

      Sure is a competition, but most importantly for poor Tiger - great FREE ADVERTISING in social media & forums like this. Main stream media will lap up selection process & fun day out - a ready made reality show.

        This ad idea is better than Tiger's airways TV show, which often showed customers fuming at staff because the customer turned up 10 minutes late or the flight was canceled.

          Actually from experience working at a local competitor airline…the Tiger tv show actually did wonders for educating joe blow public about the standards they need to adhere to for air travel.

          From someone who has travelled extensively for the last 20 years before all these low budget airlines I can tell you, people these days treat catching a plane like catching a bus…if you are 10 minutes late you are holding up 180 other people who managed to adhere to the rules and show up on time.

          Why anyone thinks they are that special and that their $39 ticket somehow entitles them to be an exception i will never understand.

        Tiger would like you to beleive it is a competition, this is how they get out of using things like insurance etc

        Personally i dont see how this is good for anyone, unless of course you really want 200 tiger dollars?

        Wonder what happens when you jump in the pool and get pnuemonia or crack your head on the pool (yes i have watched funniest home videos more than once), will Tiger help you then , doubt it if you have signed the waiver.

          Hard to avoid insurance & liability as it clearly states a fairly normal employment practice:

          Payment will be made at the appropriate rate specified in these terms upon signing of the standard Release Form.

          The competition is for the places in this promo.
          The more demand for places, the more Twitter/Facebook/etc will promote it. Add videos of people campaigning for the job.
          This will give far more FREE publicity for Tiger than the paid ad ever will.

          It links Tiger with desirability, the "warm mystery destination", youth, social media, warm wet bodies, (sex), fun!! Rather than dangerous (in a bad way), unreliable, cheap & undesirable.
          Follow that up city by city, and its a great campaign idea.

    ever since i got stuck in melbourne i dont trust tiger one single bit. casa should have permanently grounded them.
