Lowest price was on Epic with the $15 off coupon I believe, I remember it being in the single digits.

    • +1

Yeah, managed to grab Witcher 3 GOTY and another non shovelware game for under $10. It remains to be seen if Epic will let you combine games again to reach the minimum amount to be able to use the $15 off coupon.

    • +2

the downside with that is that you have to use epic.

if you bought and installed it from gog, you can uninstall gog after and the game will still launch, you don't need a shitty launcher.

      • Technically it would be the same with Epic.

        • +3

would it? have not used epic but assumed they had the same requirements as steam, either way i would rather spend the extra 5 bucks and not support epics anti-consumer practises.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: What anti-consumer practices? I use epic for certain games and absolutely love it.

            • +1

              @Fooah: paying game devs for exclusives. anti-choice = anti-consumer.

it's made me miss out on a few games, some until they got cracked, while others i just didn't play at all, but on the upside i didn't have to pay for any of them.

out of curiosity what is your best game of the last decade?

      • +4

        probably fortnite

        • Then we should thank dfg555 for funding our free epic games

      can you elaborate?
The combat could be better and the end is a bit rushed but otherwise it has great writing, graphics, music, atmosphere etc.

    • I can't bring myself to keep playing it - so slow! I'm bogged down about 10 hours into it and just can't stand all the history lessons and lack of action. I'm sure it gets better but it just hasn't grabbed me.

      • Keep trying : )

I know "it gets good, trust me" is a sort of ridiculous position, since I also feel that entertainment should stand on its own and immediately be good. That's why I absolutely cannot stand the marvel movies- I feel like I need to "study the ancient texts" to properly understand the newer movies, since i haven't seen any of the preceding ones. But I feel like W3 is different.
Everyone wouldn't shut up about how great 2 was. I tried it and hated it- clunky movement, stilted dialogue, crap level design that made you backtrack, crap combat etc. Then I played 3 some years after release. I thought it was decent, and I could tell a lot of effort was put into it, but as you say it did not grab me, and I got no farther than you. I gave it another go a year later still and there was a moment when I arrived in Skellige and sailed about on the ocean, the beautiful music playing, visiting islands at my fancy and swimming for buried treasure. After I got greedy, harpies sunk my vessel and I had to swim to shore cursing all the way. I then trekked across the snow-capped mountains to fight a giant, cured a king of mental illness and retired to the beautifully realised tavern. I am 100% biased but few games make me forget I'm playing a game, and this was one of them

  • Also similar price on Xbox store

Certainly worth getting GOTY for a few more dollars. I know it's overhyped, but it is a very good game.

    • There's tons more story and missions. I'm told GOTY is well worth it.

  • +1

Just beware if you have completed the standard edition and are getting this for the DLC your progress won't carry over and you will need to replay the game.

  • Next gen upgrade has been delayed from its Q2 release. If for some reason you haven't played this yet, you might want to wait and play it for the first time with the better visuals

    • There's a HD mod you can get for the current version, I'm completing a play through currently with the HD mod, it looks stunning.

    • +1

      Its been indefinitely delayed now.

Great game. highly recommended and well worth the GOTY for $15 (the Expansions apparently offer another 30+ hours of gameplay). I'd also recommend installing the 'The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project' mod as well (There's other mods that make it much more enjoyable such as removing weight limits, HUD upgrades)

Can you still get a free PC copy on GOG if you own the game on console?

  • +1

Same price on Steam if you are that way inclined.

  • yeah Steam is best to get this on.

  • It was full price on gog when I checked but the discounted price was available on steam …
