Disable Microsoft Outlook from Sync'in with GMail

Thanks for the kind members how helped me with my Outlook font size, so happy now.

Here's another (longstanding) problem hope someone can point me to the right direction.

I predominantly use GMails but have used Outlook to manage/organise them.
It works well for "live" accounts.
But I have one old/closed GMail account which Outlook constantly tries to send-and-receive and give me error messages when it cant sync.

Is there a way to un-sync this?

Thanking you!

    Hi,

If I understand correctly, you have 2 (or more accounts) set up in Outlook, and they are set to automatically sync. However, as one of the account is closed, Outlook throws an error when it tries to sync. If that's the issue, you can set up Outlook to only sync accounts that you want to. This option is under File -> Options -> Advanced -> Send and receive. Uncheck "Send immediately when connected" and then clock on the Send/Receive button and specify your sync preferences.

    Hope this helps. Cheers.

OzB has strike again! Thank you so much, that is most helpful. And you understand me perfectly.
Next time I will try to write better.
      Cheers!

  • Gmail also has an issue with Outlook not being 'secure' enough. There is a setting to bypass this limitation.

  • Only just saw this now. Sorry I couldn't help sooner.
I've actually been doing some work today :P

  • If the email account is closed, do you still need the email? If not, you can remove the email account from Outlook completely - this will let you turn back on auto-sync for the other accounts, and remove a bit of visual clutter (the old account).
