ShopBack Signup Australian Number - Need Help

I have joined ozbargin today, after being a guest for few days, I figured it would be definitely worth it to make an account. My problem is I want to signup for a ShopBack account but I need an Australian phone number, can anyone help me with this? I have tried a lot of free otp au numbers but they have all been used. I am a New Zealander so that is why I need someone’s advice as I can’t use a New Zealand number on signup but can add it to my account later. Thank you for for any suggestions or solutions.

Sign up of an OZ VOIP number. You will have to find out how to do this, if it is possible from Kiwiland.

    • Will check now if it’s possible

      • Not looking promising, hopefully will find one all the ones I’ve seen so far need an au number with verification.

          • @djsweet: Giving it a go now

          • @djsweet: Just tried number works great and all, actually good service, tried ringing from my normal number and it worked perfectly with call tracking and all and for free. But guess what ShopBack didn’t let the number work saying “This mobile number is invalid” probably because it detected it was a “fake number” or something. Anyway thank you for comment go trunk is a good service definitely could use for other reasons in the future, thanks for that.

Just tried needs residential Australian address, with id and international id doesn’t work, most likely it tries to link it with the residential address. Good suggestion though.

Do you have an Australian bank account? You'll have trouble withdrawing money otherwise.

I did the impossible I found a way to do it, I had also been looking for a way to signup for ShopBack and have finally done it after so long (solid 3 hours) anyway I will first say what doesn’t work (for me anyway). Australian temp numbers online: they do not work, they are either already registered or not working. Next I tried temp number service for WhatsApp because if you resend a otp on ShopBack you can get a code through WhatsApp. That also failed. Then I tried voip services, this could work but in my case ShopBack detected it as invalid so it did not work. Finally I thought let’s try an e sim so I looked up and saw that Lebara offered it. Provided you have an esim compatible phone you sign up for the 5 dollar trial plan for 5 days (5.71 NZD with PayPal). All you have to do is setup the esim on your phone and you can get texts, here is the link for convenience https://www.lebara.com.au/mobile-plan/extra-small-5-day-sim/

Oh wow, thanks for that I hope this will be worth all the troubles. I will definitely try this in the morning as it’s quite late here in NZ. I had a quick skim through and this looks very promising thank you very much for this I hope it will work tomorrow.

You have to keep the number. SMS verification is required every time you withdraw or redeem cashback. In other words, there is additional cost to use the service. Why not use some US cashback sites?

        • Sorry, I think Moneysaver17 explained this above and I can confirm it once you signup with your au number you can change your number to a New Zealand one, you just cannot signup with it. I have done that so I can confirm it works.

I got it to work, I purchased my own one because I could have other uses for it during the 5 day trial, and it really is easy to setup up an esim, I wish we had esims setup as easy as this in nz, but I am really glad it worked I have swapped my number for a New Zealand one and should be good to go, if anyone has an idea for anything else I could use this au number for (like ShopBack where I can change to nz number later) please reply to this. Anyway thank you to everyone who interacted with this, I am happy I got this to work.

      • If you have a VPN you could do trials for stan.com.au and binge.com.au.

      • Used to be good with SCA club membership credit of $10 with $5 spend of membership signup.

But they removed that thing a while ago now.

So not really much unless you wanna port it out to a different provider? perhaps a good idea as the number will stay active for longer (for OTPs etc)

ANYWAY if you want to convert AUD to NZD you'll be having to pay conversion fees etc

If you can manage to port your number you'll be very lucky to use it for any later deals

I think it would be impossible not to have a friend or relative living in Upper Coomera Qld, the West island of NZ. If so you could use their number
