  • I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by chiq appliances. My brother has a full set (washer, fridge and stand alone chest freezer) and they haven’t skipped a beat.

    • Funnily enough, because AppliancesOnline has the Chiq out of stock for a few weeks they said
"This model does show 12 MAY but it is an estimate, if there is a further delay you will be notified but they could also tell you the day before and that's no good. These ones are in stock and they are a better brand than Chiq or Seiki products. "

They then pushed Esatto and Haier

  • I figure I can just get a cheapie with 5 yr warranty and just replace as needed when thats up

    • I spent $$$$ on Bosch and tbh I wasn’t that impressed with their after sales service. I fixed my dryer issue myself and won’t be rebuying Bosch again once it’s time is up.

      • I had a wholesale account with Bosh for a while. To us it was the best supplier we dealt with. But told them we bought an LG so they closed our account.
Forget combo machines, unless they have a proper heat pump to dry. Water powered condensers do NOT work!

Water powered condensers do NOT work!

Condenser driers are not "water powered".

          • @brendanm: The LG combo has a heat exchanger where cold water suppose to condense the moisture. In the tropics it simply wastes water and after one hour your laundry is perhaps 5% drier. There was also no accessable lint filter. Since we bought the machine 2nd hand I have never opened the condenser housing but I guess it is blocked with lint. So ensure any drier has a servicable lint filter!
Great washing machines. After having many brands of front loaders over 40 years and clothes torn to pieces in top loaders during travel. As a backup we also have a Samsung bubble wash. Looks better but washes worse!

            • @payless69: Unless lg does something differently, for no reason, condensers don't use water, they use an air to air heat exchanger to remove the water from the hot dryer air.

The wife is the washing machine……….

    • And the tea bag?

    • +3

will you be staying in the doghouse the whole long weekend, sir?

  • Would never consider a top loader - front loaders are kinder on the clothes, much more efficient, and wash better as well. They also tend to last longer (mine has been going for over 10 years). Any difference in upfront costs gets wiped out by these efficiency factors.

    • Would never consider a top loader

      Whatever floats your boat

I gave away my bosch front loader to go back to a top loader

Instant open up lid to add that one thing you just found or a drop of eucalyptus oil, pausing for a proper soak, actually able to remove built up dirt and grime on work clothes

    • I like the fact the front loaders can go under a bench. My laundry is very small, so being able to have more bench space is a blessing.

  • Replacing a Haier must be an improvement.
Going to a front loader might bring you foreward half a century! Ouch that hurts! I need a big lid on top!
Code word: LG. They make good Oled TV's. Duelled them washers against all others: Around 15 years ahead, taking all variables together. Washes clean, quick, non-destructive and machine is the longest lasting leaving big brand names in the dust. Ours done over 10,000 loads. Total on parts spent: just over $30.

Have owned a Bosch front loader for 25+ years. During this time I’ve had a couple of issues with it but still going. When the valve went late last year I asked my repair guy who I have been using for many years for both my oven and washing machine which machine would he recommend based on his experience he didn’t hesitate to recommend LG.

LG comes with 10 year parts warranty. Have the previous model for 4 years weekly use and it’s rock solid. Well worth it.

    • LG comes with 10 year parts warranty.

Isn't that literally only for the "direct drive" brushless motor? There is basically nothing to go wrong with it, that's why they give such a long warranty, no moving parts, just some coils of wire.

      • Things are easier to break are the mechanical parts like spider arm, when they break they're usually not worth the repair. motors brushed or not are likely to last a lot longer.

That's literally what I said. This comment is over a year old.

They're all crap these days. Just get a cheap one with a long warranty.

    • Yep - ended up getting the CHIQ - 5 yr warranty is very decent and then we can just upgrade down the line as/when needed.
