Solar - Partner Wants Q-Cel Branded Panels. Any Good?

Getting solar.

My partner is totally not technical.

She's deciding which panel based on company ethics.

Normally I'm fine with that in different products but quality solar is hard enough without going and buying POS hardware for the wrong reasons.

But..is it POS?

On the label it's fine. But then warranty and reliability are something else.

  • They are good, I wouldn't worry about buying them

    panel based on company ethics.

Um… depends on what you're deeming as ethics, but their parent company is Hanwha Solutions.
If you're 'company ethics' radar is ok with your solar panel parent company making military weapons, then you should be fine

Good panels though, but not sure they would be on many short lists if 'company ethics' was a defining factor

    • Relaying her perspective. Will pass that on to her.

  • Solar Quotes is quite well regarded and has a rough comparision chart at the end of the page

China and ethics…. Let me think about that… Does not compute.

The sun literally gives people skin cancer. So unethical to involve yourself in its economy

I work for a large solar company in Australia, Q cells are top of the line panels and should last a long time, most companies give a 25-year warranty, the only problem is making sure you choose a company that isn't going to liquidate so that if anything does happen down the line that company can fulfil that warranty. There are also a few other things to consider such as the type of inverter and what installer the company is using. Feel free to give me a message about what company it is and I will let you know if I have heard any problems about them.

    • Thanks. Will do.. May be a while off tho

  • Mine have been on the roof over 4 years and no problems. They were combined with a Fronius inverter and installed by Solargain as a package. Great design and service by long term company and no issues since installation and produce at inverter capacity.
