    • Cheapest item?

      • probably that loaf of bread, no clue why bakers delight is still open. they charge crazy prices for their bread and it's nothing special

coles bakery is 100x better in terms of quality and price tbh

@jv: I guess your trolling.. i live in metro suburbs and everything is fresh daily. Also have a bakers delight competing next door, their stuff is always stale.
Maybe my coles is superior to yours :)

i live in metro suburbs and everything is fresh daily.

Supermarket bread is partially baked and frozen and reheated in the store, that is not fresh…

                https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-29/coles-banned-from-adv…

On the other hand, Bakers Delight has bakers working from 2-3am each day, actually baking fresh bread daily.

                • @jv: Are you a bakers delight employee, anyways i should've been abit more specific and saying what i was comparing. I don't eat the coles sliced bread they are terrible. I was targetting the baked desserts and the assorted bread rolls. Sorry bud for rowling you up.

                    Are you a Coles employee?

                • @jv: Their pastries are delivered pre made and often frozen.

Had a mate working for them and mentioned cost cutting and dropped quality.

I also get bread from coles in a shopping centre that has a bakers delight, so there's more than one of us! I imagine it varies store to store.

        • they charge crazy prices for their bread and it's nothing special

There loaf prices are on par with prices at Coles and Woolies but are significantly better…

Sure there are better bakeries around, but charge about double

          • @jv: From memory, the Coles Finest is the only "baked fresh each day" bread at Coles, and that costs $5.50 a loaf.
So not much cheaper than getting it from a bakery.
            In some cases more expensive.

That's the same price at the Bakers Delight Pane De Casa which was still warm when I bought one this morning.
Also, you get approx. 10% back in credits when using the Bakers Delight app, making it cheaper than Coles.

  • Targetted

Not showing up in my account.

    • You must buy too much bread already.

      • Probably, but I don't eat any of it… Too many carbs.

        • Just use it for shoes and hats?

  • I've tried Baker's Delight bread and have to say I find Coles brand bread for $1.60 much more tastier

    • +1

You should try their high fibre white loaf. It’s amazing.

      • It also stays fresh for a few days, unlike Coles sliced bread that goes stale after a few hours.

  • Got this deal a few weeks ago, so everyone may be getting this at different times, which makes sense as a bakery loyalty bonus.

Thought the Birthday scones were very good, and these may possibly be one of the cheapest items at Bakers Delight at around $2.30.

    • +1

Could also get a single small bread roll

    • Got a free pack of hot cross buns on sign up a few weeks ago (with any purchase), yummo. Got a HCB for $1.7 and then a pack for free.

Sister used to work at Bakers Delight, at the end of the day everything is thrown out/donated so they only sell fresh bread (her one anyway), I don't think Colesworth do so I guess that's why Bakers Delight bread costs more

    • +1

errr.. have you ever purchased supermarket bread?

They've had a "baked on" label on the bread for something like 15 years or more, how did you not notice this?

All supermarkets with bakeries make their bread fresh daily.

      • Eerr did you read what I said. My point was that anything you buy from BD is baked fresh that day, but supermarkets just keep it on the shelf until it's best before date.

        • Which is completely wrong, supermarkets throw out all their own bakery bread at the end of each day.

Never in 15+ years have I seen a bakery item that didn't have "baked on" to be the same day.

          • @samfisher5986: Are you just referring to bread bread??? I'm talking literally EVERYTHING mate. So no Colesworth definitely do not throw away their whole ass bakery section daily because I buy the reduced price stuff that they start sticking on past the baked on date. Sometimes 2 days past baked on date. I've seen stuff sold that's on the best before date itself so I've no idea where you shop maybe it's just selling out daily.

            • @MeesusEff: You must be talking about 3rd party brands that generally have preservatives.

I'm talking about freshly made bed from supermarket bakeries.

No idea why you would compare bakery bread to anything other then supermarket bakeries….

              • @samfisher5986: jeezus this is like talking to a brick wall. NO , i am talking about supermarket OWN baked goods in their bakery section that come with their own labels. Of course I am not just talking about bread, im talking about ALL baked goods such as their muffins, scrolls, croissants etc because I am not sure if you realised, bakers delight dont just sell loaves of bread they sell other stuff too.

And I know for a fact that Colesworth don't throw out their stuff everyday, because I follow the lady going around sticking on reduced prices for things that are NOT fresh that day. Are you seriously telling me you've never seen one of those reduced stickers on the supermarkets bakery items????

                • @MeesusEff: We are in a thread talking about freshly baked bread, your original post said fresh bread, why are you now talking about muffins?

Just accept you are wrong, supermarkets have fresh bread every day, whatever they don't sell is thrown away.

                  • @samfisher5986: What the sh*t mate, you are the one that jumped onto my comment. I said BD threw out EVERYTHING, and yes I did write bread after as generalisation instead of 'bread, hot cross buns, rolls, scrolls etc' so toss off. Just accept that you are a numnut that needs to read literal words to get the gist of things. And (profanity) no they don't throw out all their 'bread' coz I've also seen bread items that get reduced - does iced hot dog buns count? Since u technically didn't say LOAVES of bread 🙄

                    • -1

@MeesusEff: You said Fresh bread, that has nothing to do with muffins and never has.

We are also in a topic about fresh loaves of bread.

                      • -1

@samfisher5986: Holy sh't do you not know how to read? Did I just not say that I used 'bread' as a generalisation of EVERYTHING Bakers Delight sold? I also never just said muffins if you want to get literal jfc.

We are also in the topic of BAKERS DELIGHT so I can talk about things referring to BAKERS DELIGHT not just "exclusively about fresh loaves of bread", I was addressing a statement made about why Bakers Delight sell their items for a higher price. Who the hell u think you are to dictate that a thread can only directly talk about the item in question instead of anything related to the deal. Did I see you commenting on the other comments in this thread about people getting hot cross buns? Nope. So go thump your chest somewhere else.

Lmfao 'just accept you are wrong', #1 things people in the wrong say coz they have nothing further of value to add.

There you go, coles bakery bread bought this morning, baked yesterday. Ready to admit you are wrong?

            • @MeesusEff: Admit they were wrong? No people don't do that here lol.
Colesworth have 2 types of bread, one made in store and one from a large manufacturing site. The ones baked in store are all donated to Oz Harvest at the end of the day, and the other bread (usually found in the actual aisle) is kept for a few days and then donated

Source: Used to work at woolies

@nicholasv: Omg I forgot how infuriating that person was 😂 I would have thought that the one I posted a pic of was baked in store though as it was in the bakery section not the aisle

                • @MeesusEff: Glad you got to relive the pain 😂

And yeh I'm not too sure actually! At woolies it usually says something like "baked fresh today", but not sure about coles!

  • Thanks. Grabbed one.
