Under sink water filter system 8 years old...

Hi, I have a water filtration system (under sink) which is 8 years old.

I need to replace the cartridges and they are $270.

My concern is that a 8 year old system might not be functioning as well as it used to.

I have 2 options, buy new cartridges or spend $500-$600 on a new system. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

they work on the main water pressure pushing the water through the filter medium. no moving parts, once cartridge replaced good as new install

  • Buy new. New is ALWAYS better. /s

I did a bit of homework in 2020 and these seem like the best guys.

  • 8 years ago I installed a twin under sink system hooked up to a dual mains/filter tap.

I bought the filter system from ebay for $40 delivered.
and 3 sets of cartridges from a filter cartridge seller for $50 delivered.

the tap I bought from aliexpress for $60.

    done.

  • How often do you replace the cartridges? Our under sink system fits the $10-15 cartridges from Bunnings.

  • If the filters arent changed when they are supposed to be changed they build up mold and other nasties, you need to flush it out and use a bleach cleaning solution to clean out the tank. Unless you know what you are doing you are probably better off getting a new system.

btw, looks like a bullshit system, look into reverse osmosis systems.

  • Can you open these cartridges?

If so would the Bunnings one fit in there?

I use a $5 Sediment Filter then a $50 0.5 micron filter, supposed to be once a year change, the sediment filter was god awful brown.

  • The cartridges are inserted into the water filter housing. Click and turn to lock-in

I guess my concern is that the water goes through the water filter housing first and then into each one of the filters and out through the water hosing into the water tube.

The filters are great just concerned about the housing…

    • So clean the housing?

  • Hey, you are in Perth. We did an undersink 5 filter system, supply and install for $200. Change filters every 6months (6 Month is like 2/3 filters then next is all 5). Look up Ice Clear Water.
