Tempting. But my body aches for Ivy Bridge.

  • Staff Sale ? does that mean they have dibs on these products????

    • means you need someone with a woolworths staff card in order to get this deal. So essentially yes, they will have dibs on these products..

"Complete your details, ensuring you enter your staff discount card number in the 'Everyday Rewards Number' field. This is the 13 digit number on the back of your staff discount card."

So we have to be a staff at Woolies? whaaa

    • +3

It's stated in the heading - "Staff Sale"

    • It says it pretty clearly in the description that you need a staff card.

    • Yes you'll need to be in possession of a staff card in order to take advantage of this deal.

    • wot exactly did you not understand?

      • +3

Please cut some slack, its a requirement of being an Ozbargain member, to get excited and not to read all deals carefully. Like the post I had to mod where someone asked why deal on icecream cones wasn't available for shipping… yep they were the ones with icecream in them!

          And?
I order gaytimes over the net all of the time.

I think that the DSE staff already have taken their fair share of discounts, you don't need to rub it in our face. Even non-DSE WW staff will probably be overwhelmed by DSE staff making special deals with each other if there is not enough stock for you.

    • +1

Agree. Staff specials shouldn't be posted anyway. If you are staff member you would have already got the memo.

      • +5

Not all WW staff working at non DSE stores may known about the deal.

        • Correct Woolworths/BWS/BIG W/DAN M/ is a large chain, DSE workers form a extremely small %…of staff members

    • From past experience this has never been the case. I've always been able to rock up to a store with a buddy or cousin that works at woolies and get what I've wanted. With bigger ticket items and a much lower discount than what was offered during the games sale, I doubt DSE staff are going to go home with 5 macbook airs/pros expecting to make much of a profit on ebay..

How does this qualify as a bargain? The retail chain i work at has staff deals but these are for staff not EVERYONE, thus no bargain in my eyes as not everyone can take advantage of it.

    • -1

Couldn't the same be said about the skydrive, not everyone qualified (I didn't), yet it was posted??

  • Good deal, seeing as most ozbargainers are DSE staff.

p.s Post this in the forums next time.

    • So when a deal is posted for a particular store in only one city, it should not be posted because most ozbargainers aren't from that particular city?

      • +1

Or put in a better way….

count the amount of potential ozbargain customers in a particular area

Then count the amount of ozbargainers who know a person who works at DSE or Woolworths.

I'm pretty sure this counts as a bargain assuming people think 20% apple counts as a bargain.

      • jon, I agree with you. There are lots of deals posted here which are meant for certain group of people, city or area or particular company only but no one seem to say anything about them. For example http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69714 or http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69712 (no offence meant to OPs)

        • The difference is that those deals are made available to the 'public' where as this 'deal' is only available to a narrow group of people, WW staff.

  • Nothing to see here. Move along

  • Can this bargain be removed ?

  • +1

The worse bit is trying to justify this as a bargain.

  • not required

  • +1

    Staff deals are not bargains.

  • +2

Staff sales maybe of interest - but they are not appropriate in the bargain section - moved to forums where they belong.

BTW the last four posts above my comment here. If you use the REPORT button, it will have the issue resolved faster than using a negative vote. While it might be easier to vote the Post down it isnt as effective as alerting mods to what concerns you.

    Thanks

isnt it a bargain if you have access to a staff card? I've got my buddy who works for WW to accompany me to buy stuff on staff sale. You dont necessarily have to be an employee.

    • isnt it a bargain if you have access to a staff card?

Absolutely, thats why it isnt deleted, its just moved to a more appropriate place. Also sometimes the company's dont like it being posted too publicly, so it also respects their wishes. Win win for all. It also highlights that not everything of value here is found on the frontpage.

We also have a wiki section for those on going deals or bargain tips

  • Very tempting but with new Macs right on the verge of announcement I think I'll hold off.

  • So once the new Macs are out, what's a good way to score a deal on the old stock? Do they usually get discounted much?

    • No, they usually get run very thin in stock before a release.
