Lenovo ThinkPad X12 or Microsoft Surface Pro?

I've been investigating this machine:

ThinkPad X12 Detachable - 11th Gen Intel i5-1130G7 (4C / 8T, 1.8 / 4.0GHz, 8MB) approx. $1900 on the lenovo site.

I wanted to know whether people think it is compatible or competitive against a surface pro? Generally, I like ThinkPad keyboards
and build quality. There doesn't appear to be many options when it comes to a windows tablet these days and I need the detachable feature, but if there
is another option I'd look at it too. i5/8/256 is plenty for my needs so would be comparing similar specs.

Which Pro model are we talking about? There are quite a few different models at varying price ranges, from $1K-$2K. Can even find an older refurbed Surface Pro 4 for $450 off Kogan, and a 2017 refurbed model for $800. Also what's your main use case?

Thanks, good questions. Pro 8 for comparison. Need new for longer and reliable battery life, haven't had success with a refurb or a Chromebook and have concluded I need it to be windows 10/11. Need the detachable feature for use reading (Word docs/pdfs) and generally office type applications.

  • Pro 8 seems to be around that price range.
