Have this - pretty happy. Based on my reading, cheap sound bars wouldn't help my LG OLED tv sound that much and I didn't care enough to drop $1k for something "worth it". Decided to try this and no regrets, it's a definite improvement.

The only negative I can think of is there's a 5-10 second delay when you change settings - e.g. if the sound/voices doesn't sound quite right and you change modes or input channels, there's a long pause of silence before you get sound back. Still not good enough? Another pause. (Volume/base etc changes are instant as you'd expect)

It comes up rarely but worth a heads up.

  • Great timing was looking for a good inexpensive upgrade for the extra lounge area

    • Same. Avoided soundboard for long enough. Dad wants one. Has 3 TVs. So this is a cheap first attempt, and is bound to suit one of the setups. Happy birthday.

Pretty happy with my YAS-108B but would like for other TV room
Can anyone comment how they compare.

No power rating (Watts RMS) disclosed for the Denon, is that normal?

    • Not really, but with speakers this small I don't imagine it would be amazing

    • +1

Ive read a comment online that it's 40W

      • RMS or PMPO?

        • +2

After delving a bit deeper, it seems the 40W comment I read must have related to the power consumption. I have since found an "expert" review stating it is capable of 120W output, but that is all the info I could find on this unit.

Worth realising that most sellers have a normal price around $229, up to $250. So while this is a saving of around $40, don't buy it thinking it's normally $349…

    EG $223.27 here

I really don’t know how to say this…

    • +7

      Really?

Let me guess, you are a Dr Dre "Beats" kinda guy?

    • +1

Can't have been looking very hard then

    • +2

You never heard of them because you are the budget type of guy?

    • +7

      What about Panaphonics or Sorny?

      • +4

Listen, I'm not going to lie to you. Those are all superior machines.

But if you like to watch your TV - and I mean really watch it - you want the Carnivale.

    • All very well known brands

    • Wow…

    • Do you normally buy Hifi gear from Big W?

    • You've been using too much of those generic massagers too much to know what a real speaker brand is.

    • +2

      no return allowed.

      Is this legal?

      • +1

Yep, unless the unit is faulty.

If it's part of a conditions for the unit being discounted and you were made aware of it prior to purchasing - yes.p

      • No, not if it's broken or faulty. I assume this is for change of mind

I purchased this last month from Amazon (used good $157) but it was a brand new box damaged. I am super happy with it compared to my trusty old yas 108 the sound quality is definitely better.

It also has a sub out so i connected my old jamo sub which is perfect for it.

    • Is there much boxed damaged on Amazon usually?

      • This was found by pure luck but they do sell quite a bit of the returned stuff for very cheap. Just check below the full price when you browse an item.

  • I got the DHT-S514 +Subwoofer, its great value.

    • where is the option with sub?

      • +2

  • is there a good value option with atmos?

  • Back in stock. Got one for my parents. I already have one and very easy to use and set up. Handy to also have some inputs on there (I plug my old record player into it too).

  • What's the next step up from this,say 300$-$1000

Samsung 900a or 950a if you want the rears.

  • Nice find, just in time to replace my faulty yamaha soundbar!

I think you are better off getting Creative Labs Stage soundbar which comes with sub and is $129 delivered. Fantastic sound for the price. I have one with my bedroom tv, its awesome.

    • From where….?

      • +1

Creative website, believe it or not ;)
seems to supply only an AUX cable for PC …. not even a HDMI ARC cable, nor batteries for the remote!

        • +1

It has hdmi ARC, optical, 3.5mm and BT.

          https://au.creative.com/p/speakers/creative-stage

No batteries or cable? Seriously thats an issue at this price? Come on.

The sound is amazing for that setup and would crap all over this Denon.

          • @Omarko: I agree, but no cabling for certain with this. Just the AUX, which is useless to most if not all

The glossy black is a dust 'showpiece' too

        • Thanks - I got one from the Creative site. Free shipping as well. It's a low end product but I guess its quality will surpass that of the Kogan TV which it will be hooked up to. It reviews well enough and it seems the V2 is even better

          • @freesteakknives: Nice one, let us know what you think. Im stoked with it for the price.

            • +1

@Omarko: Wow - really pleased with the Creative product. Great value for money. Thanks for the link.
