If you don't care about CDs = Kenwood DMX820WS
Still want CDs = Kenwood DDX series (any will do, can find cheaper 2nd hand if its the 2017-19 models)

  • +1 to the above, the DMX820WS is designed to fit perfectly in the fascia (230mm wide) of a facelift ZRE-182R Corolla and is mostly plug and play.

    • Dam, looked online all out of stock :( , would this headunit be good as well DMX8020S?

      Thanks.

You could use the 8020S. However, it's a standard ISO 180mm wide unit, you will need a fascia to suit. Also, it's not plug and play like the 820WS, you'll need ISO harnesses, antenna adapter and other retention harnesses to suit.

Thanks for the help PinzVidz, i bought the headunit.

          • @kenzstar: No worries. Let me know if you're looking to DIY and I'll identify the correct fascia and other parts to suit.

Just as a side note, you won't need a steering wheel control interface, as the Kenwood has built-in OEM SWC capability. It comes with a 3 wire plug that gets spliced/soldered/insulated into the 26 pin plug loom that has the SWC wires.

            • @PinzVidz: I thought DMX820WS was mostly a plug and play unit for the corolla and it exactly fits with no fascia plate on the corolla.

              • @kenzstar: Oh, I thought you couldn't source a DMX820WS? Yes, they're mostly plug and play.

@PinzVidz: I managed to get the headunit, it was last one in stock :D awesome that it's plug and play.

  • Go wireless

  • If you want to retain the factory stereo and have Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration, a company called Naviplus sell kits that allow you to have carplay with the OEM stereo. Here a demonstration video and purchase links.

    • looks neat, would you happen to know who can install these?

Since your based in Melbourne, you can just go to Naviplus directly who are based in Clayton and they should be able to install it for you

I know a good one for a sedan but you drive a hatch.

  • I can confirm the ones off Aliexpress are great value and have android auto/carplay to boot.

Used one for 5 years without any issues

    • Can you recommend one from aliexpress for the 2017 hatch?
All I see is for the US version of corolla

      • I'd say if the years the same you should be fine.
