Cheap Health Insurance for Visa Condition and Tax

Hello OZB community,

Seeking for some help buying health insurance for the first time. As part of my visa condition and also to avoid being taxed for, I am looking for the cheapest possible insurance out there. Doesn't matter the provider or the coverage as I never use it anyway.

Did a little search and only insurance from household names show up. Got around $75/month onwards from AHM, HCF, Frank and BUPA. Aren't there any smaller companies out there where I am looking at something less than may be $50?

Or if anyone know if I can get by just choosing extras only?

Thanks in advance!

Have no specific recommendations, but have a bit of advice that may or may not be right. Last time I spoke to someone about this, I was under the impression that policies of the many of the companies you mentioned specifically state that the policies are not for the purposes of an overseas visitor. I was given the impression that an overseas visitor would need special policies with special coverage.

This conversation was quite a few years ago and I never bothered to fact check, but thought it might be useful for you to know.

    • Yes, you are right, international visitors, students, workers etc need international health care, not the healthcare citizens can purchase.
