    Homework due 9am Monday?

    • -1

No homework, but a self study if that makes sense.

      • +2

        Why is it urgent then?

  • +4

    I need an urgent assistance

    With English grammar I assume?

    • +3

Okay professor, please correct it, so that I can learn better.

  • -7

Just show the professor your 🔫 and tell them to take a 💺.

  • +1

Go to the library and lookup AGILE.

  • +3

All I can say is, agile really sucks.

    • +8

yep, i spend more time f**ing about with tickets and bullsht than doing the actual work

It sounds good in theory, but absolute sh.t in practice! And when things don't work, the theory blames everything else other than the methodology itself.

        • It is a framework where you are supposed to use the bits that work and discard the stuff that doesn't. If you are finding it sh!t in practice then it is your implementation of the framework that is the problem. While I am not saying the framework is perfect, you can make of it what you want.

          • @dogboy:

….then it is your implementation of the framework that is the problem.

This is exactly what I mean - It's 'always the user's fault'!

Each project is different and agile doesn't have a defined way of doing things. It's pretty much just "here's some ideas on how you could do it but just do whatever you think will work - if it doesn't work, it means you didn't do it properly". Don't get me started on agile 'coaches' too - their fluffy talk doesn't get the work done.

Also, because of this lack of definition/structure, the implementation is not consistent across companies and it's almost impossible to bring someone into a project without the need for a crash course on how agile works in that company.

          • @dogboy: yeh cause i decide how my company functions

i just miss the day of writing huge chunks of code, and bulking it up into a easonable size release, instead of spending 50% commenting tickets to death instead of just getting on with it and writing code

It is good if and only if everyone on the team already know the product requirements and are very familiar with the requirements, in other words they have all worked on the previous product.

For green fields it does not work if the business does not know how the product needs to work inside and out. In other words green fields are going to fail or you will get what the business wanted, but 90% chance it will not work.

        • …. only if everyone on the team already know the product requirements and are very familiar with the requirements

The point of agile was so that the project can commence when not all the requirements are known and/or give flexibility to the ever-changing/incremental requirements as the work progresses. If all the requirements are already known from the get-go, that defeats the purpose of having agile in the first place.

          • @bobbified: Sounds like you have not worked on agile or have only started your journey. Wait for a year or two and then make up your mind. The thing is to speak with devs who have been on the agile treadmill for at least 1 year and ask them what the really think about it.

            • @AndyC1: I was a dev for many years before and been a senior project manager for a while now. As with many projects, resources are usually scarce so sometimes I still go in and get my hands dirty. I gave agile a good go when it first came out and was there in the initial 'rollout' in a few companies years ago. When I say I gave it a good go, I meant that I assumed it was my problem and I've hired a few agile coaches on my projects to work with the team. They don't seem to have anything useful to add to the way we were doing things "Agile".

What you say about the team needing to be familiar with the requirements is true, but it doesn't work so well in practice when you've got people coming from everywhere.

Not sure about that, but then it's complicated with so many types of methodologies and frameworks.

    • You are mixing up Agile and SCRUM

  • +2

    from wikipedia -

In software development, agile practices include requirements discovery and solutions improvement through the collaborative effort of self-organizing and cross-functional teams

  • Off-topic, but I see a lot of normal-looking posts in the forums getting 'reported' - for example, this one has been 'reported' twice - once as "Spam" and another as "Illegal/Inappropriate"? (The mod will look and be the final judge and either 'can' the post or resolve the reports).

But why? In this case, someone is asking for help - the user is well-established (and post is obviously not regular spam) and the content isn't illegal nor inappropriate. Are people just reporting because the topic doesn't suit them?

    • +6

It is inappropriate because they're asking someone to do their assignment for them instead of doing the work themselves.

      • +1

hmmm.. I read it as OP is seeking guidance and assistance to write the case rather than just someone doing it for him. So it doesn't seem that much different to a "How do I do this?" type of post that gets asked all the time.

      • +2

If somebody can do their assignment for them in 30minutes, then damn whoever does it deserves some props

      • Whereas in this case, it is not. Not enrolled in any university, but need some brain to understand if I was on the right track

  • More details?

  • +2

Step one . Go on to a website which posts freebies and discounts- Check

    • +1

The solicitor refused to help OP with their homework and suggested the renowned site of bargains.

  • Go Google it.

  • +2

This makes no sense to me at all LOL!!

  • An epic what?

  • +2

Map out a sequence of activities the user performs. Write the steps in verb noun convention- Turn Key

User story gets written - as a x
    I want to y
    So that I can z.

An epic is a large story that gets broken in to many stories.

    • Thank you for this.

  • +1

    As a true ozbargainer
I want to buy many bargain stuffs
So that i can save some money on the stuffs that i dont need

Given that i have applied for a new credit card
    When the card arrives
Then I will spend more on bargain stuffs

  • Thank you for the support in the best form. If I was studying at an UNI, i would have reached to a professor for assistance. I have written them myself, but needed some guidance.

    • A professor would have told you to ask a TA or actually go to classes.

  • +1

Agile is a mindset, less about following a set of methodology.

  • Thank you guys, I have got someone who was willing to look into my write-up and helped me out, it only took her 5 mins.

I appreciate all the positive and supportive comments. Others that trolled, hope you never have to ask for help.
