Gado Gado Paste Recommendations?

I’m a big fan of Indonesian gado gado, a kind of salad with rice and spicy peanut sauce.
I used to buy blocks of the peanut paste in Chinatown but can’t find it anymore. The canned varieties at Colesworth are just not very good…
Wondering if any of you Asian grocery shoppers can recommend a product and where to get it? Online would be good. Thanks!

why not try google indonesian grocery and see which one close to your place, and once at the shop, ask them to recommend….

Enak eco brand is the one we always use (bright green box)

Usually get the mild one because pedas is way too spicy for me. There is a few Indonesian owned Asian grocery stores in Kingsford if you can't find it online.

  • Couple Indonesian groceries at Campsie, some in Lakemba, or try Kingsford or Hurstville.

    Try the combination of:
    1. Mayver's dark roasted crunchy peanut butter (or any other brands, work just as well)
    2. Colesworth's homebrand minced garlic
    3. Colesworths's homebrand crushed chili if you like it hotter
    4. Kecap manis
Add all to boiling water and stir.

Try Ayam. Usually available at Asian Grocers, otherwise Colesworth.
Support the Asian Grocers if possible and support small business.

  • Thanks everyone. I’ll give the Enak Eco a go, no Asian grocers near me but online works! Is it a sauce or dry mix?

It's a crunchy dry paste that you cut some off and add water to mix it into a sauce.

Can be done with a spoon and a bowl, but a mortar and pestle is even easier

      • Thanks! Just what I wanted 🙏
