Queenstown NZ weather

Dear OZBs,
I have decided to go to Queenstown NZ in June for the first time.
I’m unsure what to expect in terms of weather and what clothing I need.
People who have been there this time of the year can you tell me what do I need ?
Does it get really cold and rainy?
Can I get away with my macpac Uber jacket https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-mens-uber-hooded-down-jacke… or do I need something significantly more warmer? Does it rain often what I will need a proper rain jacket ? Or maybe this hybrid one can cater for both ? https://m.jd-sports.com.au/product/black-nike-hybrid-jacket/…

    yes it will be cold… the wind can cut through all layers if you are out at night.

    Queenstown is expensive however some good deals can be had if you stick to meal nights at the pubs E.G. (Pig & Whistle)[https://thepig.co.nz/whats-on/]

    i've been there a few times for a holiday, both skiing / snow holiday and a tourist style holiday - happy to make some rec's if you need.

      Recs would be great ! I’m going to cardrona ( will hire skii clothing ) and Milford sound , haven’t decided on anything else. I’m there for a week.

        I did Milford Sound in June 2018, was really quite breathtaking. I stayed at an AirBnB here, the owner Jan was super nice and dropped us off around town a couple times. We also did a helicopter ride for about $400 which landed on one of the snow capped mountains for a photo it was pretty awesome but a bit pricey, something to consider anyway.

        Bring your puffy jacket, thermal + fleece layers and insulated shoes its bloody cold!

        Yep def do a few touristy things like Milford sound and jet boating - i think we just went through Juicy

        It's worth hitting up Fergburger once too

    Need may have been used, needlessly 4 times in the OP.

    You could wear what you have already got, but it depends what is comfortable for you. :)

    my macpac halo jacket was plenty warm for Queenstown

      I was looking at the halo online , I’m assuming it’s a lot more warmer than the Uber light which I have.

    Get windproof jacket and pants at the minimum.
