Suggestions Sought - macOS Optimizer Tool Able to Remove or Disable Features to Improve Performance

My work supplied 2019 Macbook Pro i7 is used for software development -

Slack / Intellij / Docker / Zoom / Sourcetree / Safari / Chrome / git and the shell is what I use - and youtube in background.

Work installs all manner of scanning / malware / firewall stuff as well to keep us all safe and sound.

I'm currently on Big Sur and the machine is nagging me to upgrade to Monterey. Reading the new feature list and it looks like more resource hogging junk - new Share play and facetime features, ipad sync etc etc.

Short of installing a Linux distro - is there anyway to rid this machine of all the social / icloud / istore / itunes / i-sync stuff that I never use? (all force installed and ready on my beck and call to make my life supposedly easier).

I want to strip Monterey back to something more like High Sierra - no i-bloat.

(and yes - I know the 'work' apps mentioned above are all heavy resource consumers and not ideal - e.g. Slack built on Electron)

  • Hi,
Depends on your access and what they have locked down, I like Monolingual to Remove unwanted OS X language resources.https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/7758/monolingual

  • Does your workplace use jamf as a MDM solution? If so, you could speak to your jamf admin to deploy a profile to your machine that is very specific to your needs.

  • +1

I doubt you’d really notice a difference with those items stripped
