There was a guy who used to say this + solar panel= perpetual energy.

    • +4

I believe it was Gandalf the White just before arriving to Helm's Deep with his solar-charged LED staff. He knew his shit and saved countless lives.

      • +4

But he had shadowfax which helped him ride north at speed to get the other riders back just in time - the morning of the fifth day. I'm not sure if the solar panels and this tv would last the full 5 days.

Tagging @gimli for further input, he was there.

        • +1

I think it was @gimli who wrote the original comment

They possibly have been banned from posting here since no comment yet.

Damn that’s a good price. What I paid for my 77” CX back when it was the current model.

  • +6

We need 100” and 120” models now

    • +2

I reeeaaalllly want affordable 120” TVs. None of the Laser TVs are bright enough, yet.

    • You need more eyes like Dr Strange's arms

    • +1

      97" G2 for 30k.

      • Hisense is $12k 100” real tv not laser

  • Absolutely don't need this, but tempted…..

  • This or Sony 83A90J? Not using for gaming. Just great quality normal TV watching and good sound.

    • +7

      This (because cheaper).

*EDIT: Sound will not be good (like all TVs)

    • They're both fine

  • +1

Did good guys deliver for 5900?

    • I am sure they will match price.

  • Wow the oleds are getting bigger

  • This has to be lowest it has ever been! Got mine 2 months ago for $6.5k and thought it was already a bargain

    Dear Santa…

  • +9

wow, was just looking to replace my 65 wth 77. Shouldn't hurt going 83 i guess :)

  • +2

I'm trying to buy, but saying I'm not in Metro area? Wtf?
Edit - so it seems, South Australia doesnt work. I've changed to another state and delivery is possible…. what gives? thanks Myer, saved me $6K

  • +2

    So so tempting.

Had decided to pick up the 85" Samsung when it hits 4K again, but this has complicated matters.

I have the C1 65" and it is brilliant for gaming with the Xbox Series X, could do with 20 more inches (who couldn't).

  • C1 83" or G1 77"? Which and why would really help. Tq

    • +2

If wall mounting flush (not articulating mount), then the G1 77". Comes with flush wall-mount. It does NOT come with table top legs!

If freestanding on an entertainment unit, then the C1 83".

If wall mounting on an articulating arm, just be mindful that the C1's panel is very thin, so not ideal if you wish to change the angle repeatedly!

I'm keeping an eye out for a cracking deal on the G1 77", in stock in my area.. Surely there will be a few hitting $5K flat soon, but I'll need to be quick to snap one up.

      • +9

The 77" G1 does come with legs. Source: I just helped my best mate set his up.

        • +2

Interesting.. did it also come with the factory wall mount?
Maybe the 77" models come with legs and the wall mount.
Many reviews state the G1 doesn't come with legs!

          • +4

@itsTricky83: It comes with legs in Australia. The reviews you're reading are from OS.

          • +3

@itsTricky83: Yep my G1 77" comes with Legs and Wallmount.

          • +2

            @itsTricky83: As they mentioned below!
            Difference between US/AU
We get the legs for some reason haha

        • +2

Yep confirming my 77 G1 also came with legs (note they're in a separate box). Apparently they're provided in Australia.

        • +2

Thanks for all the confirmations. Sorry if I mislead anyone. I'm actually pleased to now know that the G1 77" comes with legs.. will give me an excuse to delay wall mounting it, if I score one!

          • +2

            @itsTricky83: I'd kill for a 77"!
I'll be extra jealous when you get one!

      • thank you. Watched a few youtube videos and find that the profile of g1 is better for wall mount, especially if you can see the sides since they are of the same thickness from top to bottom. The c1 is thick at the bottom and skinny on top, does not look aesthetically pleasing when the sides can be seen .

Now just have to wait for a cracking bargain on the g1 77 :)

As a long time user/spectator of ozbargin i thought it was time i gave somthing back thus my first post. This deal looked to good to be true. I think myer may have done a boboo with the price but who knows it is last year's model so there you have it

    • Thanks mate. Great deal. This is so tempting but I need a TV only in Nov. Hold hold

    • Hey Sparky - I'd be surprised if its an error I picked this up from good guys close to a month ago for a bit cheaper then this one ($5826).

      Sensational TV.

  • +2

Also guys don't forget cash back for myer is 4% if they honor it which will bring it down to $5750

  • +1

    Oos

  • screw you myer, never a delivery option just outside the city

  • How are people managing to get cashback (Shopback / Cashrewards ) on price matching, which I presume is an instore price match?

    • +1

They won't price match CR but you could buy gift cards at a discount.

  • Not a bad price.
    I paid $6200 for the 77" G1 almost 6 months ago.

    • This is 83". Size matters ;)

      • +1

        and a C1
I prefer the G1 over the C1 though.

        • Why?

          • +2

@amsaini15: Flush wall mount and "apparently" alright a brighter screen. (I cant tell though)

I regret not going for the Sony 77" OLED a few weeks ago. Could have sold my 65" Panasonic OLED for at least $1500 and ended up with a 77 inch OLED for $2500

  • +2

Looks at recently purchased C1 77” with sadness

  • It's being discounted because the new C2 model is coming out soon.

LED vs OLD this will trigger a long conversation..

      Not an OLED….

  • Cashback from Cashrewards should be 2% instead of 5%?

  • My living is quite bright (open plan living), would that mean I should consider a 4k TV over OLED?

    • its personal preference i guess, unless TV exposed to direct sunlight (then again any TV will be the same)

mine is open living too, i am pretty happy with my OLED 55, been trying to justify 65 or 77 for two years….just couldnt do it.

    • Just in case you get roasted 🤣 I think you mean LED vs OLED.

All TVs come in 4k (the resolution) which doesn't have anything to do with the brightness.

Yes, most people say that an OLED can't get as bright as LED (QLED/ULED). I originally wasn't going to get OLED for this reason… till I realised I never watch anything on a TV in the daytime 😅

      • Been comparing OLED and LEDs myself, always thought besides the risk of burn in that OLED was the clearly superior tech. But having looked in to it more deeply, I think LEDs (QLED/MiniLEDs) are far better choice in bright areas, heres my justification.

While OLEDs are great in the dark they still do struggle in brightly lit areas, because they cant get as bright as LEDs and the brighter they are, the greater the risk or burnins. Manufacturers are using every trick in the book to prevent this from limiting brightness to fast screen savers, etc.

Also here is a thing I didnt realise, they use more energy than LEDs, especially when it needs to push up the brightness. They are also really bad at displaying "dim/gray" scenes. OLEDs prefer either fully lit or off, they struggle quite a bit to replicate semi lit areas.

        • 'They are also really bad at displaying "dim/gray" scenes'

          Define really bad.

          • @JimB: Sorry for got the term before, its called black crush.

            https://www.howtogeek.com/728797/what-is-black-crush-on-a-di…

            • @binary101: 'black crush' I've learned something new.

TBH, I haven't noticed it being an issue on my OLED.

Overall, I still think OLEDs are superior to other TV currently available.

              • @JimB: OLEDs are better in certain areas, I've got a tv in the bed room that doesnt get much sun, OLEDs great cause I can turn down the brightness compared to an old LED TV, which even in its darkest setting can only be described as eye brow burning bright.

Its great for the living room though where my gets a LOT of sun light, I did try putting the OLED there first but couldnt appreciate the picture quality when the sun was out.

So it really depends on where you are going to place the TV. OLEDs are great in a lot of situations, but why waste money (this is ozbargain after all) when LEDs might give you a better picture quality.

        • yeah, I feel like you can't flat out say one is superior than the other, it depends on your circumstance. [lol, had friendly chat with @saitaris about this here 😂] (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12049606/redir)

Pretty sure someone commented that you couldn't see shit on Game Of Thrones (although I think it was a joke about season 8 😅)

But yeah, I agree with you both…
OLED will degrade more over time
          OLED isn't as bright.
          OLED consume more power than.
OLED doesn't wash out when viewed at an angle
          OLED doesn't have blooming issues.
OLED won't disappoint when you find out that the panel you have is different to all the reviews you've been watching, therefore making all your research pointless now 😫

But the OLED prices now are really hard to pass on. I rekon micro LED will be much closer, but guessing the price will be too high. The main reason I switched from Mini-LED to OLED, was the sub-panel inconsistencies (could you tell 🤣) Also got the Laser TV, so best of both worlds IMO 🤓

      • Haha yeh I meant LED not 4K, too many terms to remember.
