Which iPhone Lightning Cable to Buy?

Looking for suggestion to buy lightning cable which lasts for more than a couple of months. I bought a few from MSY, they were like $2-$3 each, but most of those cables have stopped charging. Please advise of any cable that is reliable and reasonably priced.

  • It's an iPhone, enjoy the optional Apple tax and get a genuine one ;)

    • I know it's an Apple tax, but it is for my kid's iPad (school requirement), so I rather avoid the tax.

AmazonBasics cables are of reasonable quality and 1/2 the price of Apple. https://www.amazon.com.au/Amazon-Basics-Lightning-Certified-…

What You Get: Amazon Basics Lightning to USB Cable, worry-free Lifetime Warranty and dedicated Amazon customer service.

        • Thanks. I think I will go for this. Lifetime warranty sounds good.

        • do they do a USB-c to lightning that you know of? i could not find one listed.

    I like Anker myself

  • I hate that original lightning cables seem to last much longer than non-original. Surely they're made in the same factories?

    • same factories maybe, but different parent companies. i remember reading that Apple had to rule their factories with an iron fist to get the quality they wanted, Chinese factories are capable of making products that are as good as any from what you would consider a reputable manufacturer, comparable to the quality that "Made in Japan" brings to mind, but they just start cutting corners as soon as an outside retailer approves the prototype product (which is usually much higher quality) and start making worse products to save money, time and effort.

I'm a Blitzwolf fan. Seem to last well and not be overpriced. Been using them a few years now (both Lightning for my Apple devices and USB C for my Android devices).

    • where do you buy from?

  • i would honestly just shell out the extra $5 - $10 for an apple cable, they are as good as you are going to get. if not, cygnett are usually pretty good (but around the same price point as apple)

  • Do they fray at the ends? Perhaps cable protectors would help? I've never used them personally and there are mixed reviews…

    I just use duct/electrical tape.

  • I've only been using Baseus cables for a year or so now. No issues with them, but almost all of their lightning cables aren't MFI certified so you run the risk of iOS updates eventually breaking them (yet to happen for me though). For MFI certified, I've had a few Anko (Kmart) cables that have been fine, or Blitzwolf is one of the better brands for good quality at a reasonable price.
