Chinese Versions of Phones??

I really want a realme gt 2 pro.
There is a global version and china version but all the sellers in aus have the china version. What's the real difference? Exactly the same?

Same question got asked on Reddit.

    Potential differences:
    4G / 5G bands
(maybe no) nfc and google pay
    (Maybe no) google services
    different preinstalled apps
Voice over LTE might need some hacking / wizardry to get working, don't expect it to work out of the box.

      Sound like a nightmare πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜

    • Can confirm, owned a Realme GT 5G. All google services work fine, the Global rom is a translated version of the Chinese rom. NFC works however Google Pay does not. The phone came preinstalled with all google services and about 14 bloat apps (5 being TikTok knockoffs and 3 being AliExpress knockoffs). Ads when installing apps can be disabled under 'Personalisation' in settings. All mobile data, LTE, 4G and 5G worked fine out of box.

Don't want to buy from Aliexpress? Plenty of Global version Realme GT 2 pro available for sale there.

  • Chinese phones may have Chinese " government approved" firmwares/chips with some special features that customer are unaware of. Always a risk in my opinion.
