Sony WH1000XM4B - Water Spill

Hi All,

2 days ago i bought a brand new Sony WH1000XM4B and accidentally spilled a glass of water over the headphones.

They seem to work fine but once i connected to the power for charging it has stopped working. The headphone is not water resistant and was wondering if there is any place in Melbourne which can repair the headphones?

Thanks in advance for your help !

UPDATE - I left the headphones near the window for few days and it miraculously started working again, the water appears to have completely dried out it as well. I used it until it was 0% battery, removed the pads and left it out in the sun for few hours and charged again. Its now working fine :)

You should of put it in a box with a bag of rice for several days, waited for the water to evaporate then charge it.

its too late now not much you can do, the only ones who can probably fix it is sony themselves. Maybe look to your accidental damage contents insurance cover if you have it.

    • An alternative is to put it in a big ziplock bag with lots of those moisture absorbers you get with random items. We've saved a few items that stopped working due to water damage this way.

Those delicious do not eat silica gel packets

        • We have a big collection that we've managed to save up over the years. Saved our Breville Smart Kettle a few times along with some other things.

Did you get any warranty or anything through Sony themselves or the store you bought it from? Might be like a 1 month/year warranty on them.

Pretty sure any warranty is not going to cover water damage.

      • Some credit cards have accidental damage insurance for 30 days.

  • Just contact their after-sale support team, and if they don't solve this for you, you can claim this in your payment account
