Dodgy - Wilson Carpark Stores Credit Card Information ? (China?)

Hi All,
I was trying to book a parking with wilson carpark and when came to payment screen, saw a print "We will securely store your credit card number in your Wilson account for future bookings."

I don't have any option other than pay the fees and allow them to store my credit card, if I need to reserve a bay.
Typically online payment systems will give you both options. Store or NOT to store.

I find it very dodgy and annoying, especially with an overseas organisation controlled by Chinese communist party.

Is it legal that, they can store credit card info without customers permission?

what are your thoughts?
A.Paul

That's their tnc. Accept and park there, or don't and go elsewhere.

It's legal so long as it's PCI Compliant.

    https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/pdfs/pci_fs_data_storag…

They are allowed to store Primary account number, cardholder name, Service Code, and expiration dates, but they are not allowed to store the Card security code (that's the 3 digit number on the back of the credit card)

For the end consumer, it is safer to use a credit card than a debit card, since it's easier to dispute charges through your bank. You can also consider using virtual credit cards if you want even more privacy.

Brah…if you're so afraid, just stay home

    • Adding to this, don’t apply for credit cards and hide all your cash under the mattress 😂

  • use a disposable debit card / account and make sure there is no money in the card / account other than what you need to pay for the parking. if it ever gets leaked, which it probably will, they won't get anything from you.

    Wilson being Wilson.

Best way to combat this is churn and burn the cards.

Are you worried that the Chinese government is so desperate for money that they will use your credit card number to buy things?

At least they're not storing forms of identification? What are they going to do with your credit card?

  • What are they going to do with your credit card?

Use it to pair with the chip in OP's head and control them?

ergh, I was with you until you brought China into it.

    Just grow up.

You understand things better once you grow up,

Their data center in china. If a security breach happens, for sure, they will hide. If something happens in Australia , they require to disclose it.

They don't need to store the credit card to make a transaction. and definitely NOT required to store the card overseas.

      • I had a Google couldn't find it, can you please advise where it says they store your card in a data centre in China?

  • You should be concerned about who Wilson gives the 💽 to when it could potentially be to people like this.

    Their safety is questionable.

they will only store your credit card details if you give them permission. If you don't give them permission, they won't let you book. That's fair and legal.

    • as far as I know they store the credit card details overseas.

What concerns me is they don't need to keep the credicard details for one time transaction. Second thing is they don't need to store it overseas

      • as far as I know they store the credit card details overseas.

        How do you know that?

        • i asked the same question above (with no reply yet)
