How Do Podiatrists Charge $30 for a Pair of Runners Plus a Pair of Cutomised Insoles

As long as you are with a private health insurer, a few podiatry shops/clinics will charge you $30 for a pair of brand name runners and a pair of made-to-measure insoles. I have just heard about it from friends and it's apparently a yearly deal. Am I the last person to know about it? Any catch?

  • The shoes actually cost very little to make so the insurer can probably negotiate a good rate. What do you need for made to measure insoles, a dollar in material and a pair of scissors?

probably costs your insurance 500 bucks or something like that

  • Your premiums are paying for it. I got insoles made for $500 and buy shoes for about $150.

    • Same for the insoles after making molds of my feet then sending it off to be custom made etc.

… except I buy shoes on clearance.

I tired a few of the different brands and models but I keep going back to the gel kayanos. They the only ones that can last more than 12 months, everything else is 6-8 months.

        • yea im on the new balances… just pist with different versions of same model with different widths even though they say 2E

  • Wait where can I get these? I would love to get a podiatry assessment and insoles for $30 together w my PHI extras

Call up a podiatrist, ask them if they do private health and if any gap fees. Get the codes for the items you want and then ask the provider if those codes are covered and at what %.

No need for a GP referral to visit a podiatrist as well.

      • Do you mean the product codes for particular runbers?
